the core 2 duo is for sure the best !all games and now applications dont need quad even dont use it

you should buy the quad-core cpu, even a 2.4 GHz Quad core can outperform a 3.0 GHz core 2 duo in most occasions

E6850 out performs Q6600 at gaming (by a long shot) however you can always OC the Q6600 at 3.3ghz (stable). If you want performance go for the E6850, if you want to future proof go for the Q6600, personally i would go for the Q6600 because we're already starting to see games using quad cores better
