It depends on the game though... turn based works for some rpgs, but for other certain types they should had been "real time".... but I love it when the rpgs I play has a feature where it allows you to pick whichever one you want, or a blend of both...

I like the real time rpg's like star ocean (great game). Turn based just got really boring and relied too much on stats rather than your skills and tactics...

They each have their positives and negatives. I like turn based when I'm feeling contemplative and strategy oriented, and real-time when I'm in the mood for hack-n-slash. I tend to play more turn based games because, for some reason, they tend to have better story lines. This does not necissarily mean that the others can't, it's just what I've found.

I play both turn-based and real-time RPGs, but I tend to like real-time more, because battles go much faster, and they're more exciting. They're also more realistic, because whenever I get into a fight, I certaintly don't stand in one spot, walk up to my target, hit him, and then run back to my starting spot.

For me it's just not an rpg unless its turnbased.Real time reminds me to much of fighting games like Tekken.

Turn Based for life, I love that kind of combat so much, of course I also have nothing against real time, but it has to be fun to strategize, Kingdom Hearts is a lot of a buttom masher, I've Beaten and own both of them.

I like 'em both equally, but I do think there aren't enough Turn-Based RPGs in this day and age, and the ones that are have some retarded battle system like Shadow Hearts.Games like Dragon Quest VIII are a good change of pace from all these real-time systems, but I still like them both.

Real-time can be fun and addicting, but my interests lie in turn-based. There is more in-battle strategy with turn-based fighting.

I'm a fan of turn-based, personally. Like others have said, it's just not an RPG unless it's turn-based. It can be fantasy-genre, but realtime games seem like an RPG-Adventure hybrid-thing. Realtime can be done well, but a full menu system in real-time (Like in Kingdom Hearts) puts a lot of strain on the player if the action continues while player actions are selected.

I prefer playing a turn-based game, and it's because i'm a fan of FF games.

ive never been fond of button mashing, so id have to say turn based..i think theres more room for strategy in a turn based game, real time is geared more towards reflexes imo

I enjoy turn-based RPGs more than real-time, although I like them both. I think I mainly enjoy turned-based more because during a boss fight, I can get up and make a sandwich or ...ahem... "powder my nose" without it being a frantic ordeal. >.<
