I live way out in the country. 99% of the people around here don't even know what a graphic novel is. My school finally got mangas when I was in 11th grade. I was on the student library council along with a friend who also liked manga and anime. It was our job to compile a list of books we thought the library should get. We put down a few mangas and the librarian agreed to it! Unfortunately, the mangas they did get were boring ones with the really poorly drawn anime characters. It was a start though. Hopefully more kids are trying to get the school to get better ones.

My school library has Fullmetal Alchemist, Blame! and Initial D. First off, I already loved FMA, but I'de never heard of Initial D up until then. I love cars, and this was just perfect! Cars and Manga, sweet! But Blame! wasn't that great. Seriously, the main character dosn't say anything until half way through the first book, and its way too confusing.

Yes, my local libraries have manga. It's pretty common, as how I've seen it so far.

Not only that, but it's even in my university library. A whole sections devoted to handbooks on drawing, a index of manga currently around, the history of manga, Different works of it....sheesh! The stuff is everywhere! Surprised me to see a recent Negima manga just sitting there staring me in the face. (No, I did not pick it up. I was studing a topic of interest, mainly, how to apply Latin in speech format.)

Well lately i've just seen Shai posting alot of topics. Anyone going to warn him or is that ok? Topic spamming with just a few titles is really lame. I mean why would you do that? Just for some ROMS? Or just for some cool stuff in the gp store?

Libraries that are in big cities usually have a large manga section. A lot of Asian influence it seems, than usual towns. The libraries in NYC are filled with manga, but it's usually the same stuff with way too many copies. Meh, I just read the manga online. For some reason, I have a blatant mistrust of the distributors and translators of manga (too much censoring) and I owe it to the fansubber/scanlator community. Honor among thieves.

there is a HUGE section of manga at my library, its increased so much since i first found them. they used to be in the art section, but slowly has moved to its own section in the teen novels. and the selection used to be pretty weak but now most mangas i like are there. :smoke: i'm proud of my library. they even have a nice collection of original japanese mangas.

My library has one.Probably because of the teens request back when I was in middle school. Then I was asked to write stuff, requesting for more manga or something. The final touch was one of the librarians' help.
