I was really good on Halo 2. I was a pretty good sniper and my aiming was great. Halo 3 has a new engine and somewhat I get great games but then some terrible ones. Are there any new tips for the game?

I would say use the motion sensors. Keep your eyes glued down there. Sucks that they don't have game types without it.

I'm a level 36 on live, so by far I'm not the best, but I do know what I'm doing. One of the biggest things that I always notice about my roommates playing is that, while they look at their radar, they don't use it correctly. By this I mean that you should concentrate on learning the maps, learning where people go a lot, and then applying that knowledge to the radar. By just looking at the radar, you know which direction they are from you, but you do not know their height, you do not know what they are doing. So instead of just looking at the radar then turning to see if anyone is in that direction, look at it to see if maybe there are two people fighting, taking out each other's shields. Or if there is someone on the floor below you walking in the same direction that you can jump down and melee.Other than that, stick to Grenades and Battle-Rifle Headshots.

Ok I don't claim to be the best player on halo 3 i am actually pretty modest for my rank. Right now i am a rank 43 in almost every game type. the only thing to point out to people transitioning from h2 to h3 is that in h2 you just had to keep your cross hair on the enemy's head but in h3 you need to lead your shots especially with the BR. the BR needs only needs to be lead at long range targets but from medium to short range you don't. Also i can't stress this enough when your playing team games always keep in contact and call shots i know this means your team mate might get your kill but who cares all that matters is the win, and put it this way your team will work together better and you still get the assist. Remember strategy is a key to any victory, and getting mad at your team doesn't help. Just keep your cool and play level headed.

If your playing with a team stick with them, your more deadly in a group. Also, get good at throwing gernades, and know where the explosive barrels are so you can get extra damage on an opponent when you shoot them.

Make good use of your melee, sneaking up behind a brute for an insta-kill is incredibly handy, especially when they're heavily armoured. Jackals, in this game, are a pain in the ass, just like Halo 2. You should be careful of them, they can turn a wonderful half a level into a hellish or ducking and guessing.VehiclesAvoid the Choppers. The carrier warthog, whilst lacking a rear gun, is fast, and you can simply bypass enemies.Gravity Hammer + MongooseDon't do it.

For one, don't charge straight for the heavy weapons. Also, when riding shotgun on a vehicle, don't use close-range weapons like the hammer or shotgun or long-range weapons like the spartan laser or sniper rifle. Get to know the maps, so you know where the weapons are, what route you can take to the enemy, good sniping positions, and where your cover is. Work with your team; I've won many games with teams that communicate well, and lost many games in which I'm the only person on my side with a headset plugged in. This bit is universal for all team games.

Dual weilding may sound fun, but its not always the right choice.Remember to throw grenades all the time.Shoot THEN melee, not melee then shoot.

For far range throwing of grenades look in a 45 degree angle, jump then throw the grenadeyou can get 2X more range that way then with the regular or just the 45 degree angle throwLearn to use weapons properly:When you get a missle pod ( the one made to lock on to vehicles ) aim 5 seconds ahead of them and slowly shoot towards them.Diagram:X1_X2_X3_X4and 5_X6_X7-O-X8X= Where to shoot first0= TargetFrom X1-X3 the target cant hear the beeping noises so shoot ahead so they run into itX4 5 and 6 are for seeker missilesX7 and 8 are for the instance if they get out of the vehicleNeedlers may seem like garbage weapons but when used at mid range, they can be deadly. All you have to do is follow the direction which you think your target is going to go. After about half a clip your target should be deadNote: needler is not good when it is 2v1When carrying a long range weapon make sure to bring a short range weapon ( Like a shotgun )If your scoping into your sniper rifle, and you run out of bullets in your clip, you might notice on your radar, a red dotdon't wait for the reload to finish, instead switch to your shotgun, and crouch so that the enemy cant see you on the radar.Communicate with your team.If you see someone tell your team their location and go in, if you die they'll know where to go for a weakened enemy and pick them off from the crowd.See a vehicle? say what vehicle it is and where it is located.this helps if your ever playing territories ( or however you spell it )Learn to drive vehiclesIf your not very good at maneuvering the banshee don't go in it, i hate to see a teammate rush in to the banshee and get shot down by a spartan laser 2 seconds later.Believe it or not no scoping a target at mid range is actually easier then scoping sometimes. when no-scoping the bullet appears to be bigger ( maybe its just me )Turn down your sensitivity ( It might help )Don't turn your sensitivity to 10 unless you can actually use it, it may look slow but being accurate is alot better then being fast. And have fun, i personally get annoyed when an immature person screams into the microphone when they lose.

Multiplayer:1.) Learn your maps: know where every weapon is, where every corridor goes, everything.2.) There are some good sites on the 'net that gives the number of shots needed for each weapon before you can successfully melee. Ex. It takes about 3 shots with the battle rifle to bring the shields down to melee. Less if you hit the person in the head.3.) May i suggest learning how to no-scope with the sniper? Basically try to keep the sniper at head level. Don't use the scope. Strafe left or right if needed to, and be ready to melee if your shot strikes only the body. Don't waste ammo. Sniper ammo can be valuable. Remember, practice makes perfect.4.) Get a mic, and get plugged in. Communicate with your team. If you join a clan, that might even help more. Learning to battle in multiplayer with the same people can help you build an effective, strong unit. 5.) This kinda ties in with #4: Develop a game plan. Assign different people to go after different weapons, etc. Be prepared.6.) Think tactically. Dont follow a person directly into a room. Chances are, they are inside, around the corner, waiting for you to show yourself. Find another way. Use elevation to your advantage. Also, think about what weapons you are caring. A shotgun and an pistol are pretty worthless in a wide, open area with snipers about.7.) If you find yourself under sniper fire, DONT jump. Jumping is predictable and any sniper worth his grain can follow your parabola easily. Instead try weaving and heading for cover.8. Remember to constantly be on the move. Camping only works in some situations. Staying in one spot lets your opponent know where you are, know your fields of fire, and gives him/her the option of coming in different entrances with a plan. Ex. Take the multiplayer map, "The Pit", for example. Many players camp out in the room with the sword. A common way for opponents to attack is to throw grenades through a little hole in the wall, and rush in with their teammates, while your shields are drained. Usually this ends up with the camper dieing.

I think most of the above post can be summarized as being aware of your surroundings. 9 times out of 10, you die because you walk into a bad situation at a bad time. Don't rush, and know where the other team is before you start shooting. Otherwise, you'll just get picked off.

In swords matches, it is really useful to throw in a grenade or two when there are a couple of people fighting each other. Because of the new parrying function, they lose their shields, and one grenade will kill them both. Yes, it's somewhat cheap, but it still works. The only people who complain about it (unless that's all you do) are people who really need to get a life and calm down, because it's just a game.

says most of it here.but i'll be a little more specific.1) know where the Battle Rifle, Plasma Rifle, Rockets, and Sniper Rifle spawns on every map. *go into forge and go onto every map and check the respawn times and learn where spawn points are and this also helps on learning the map.2) trial and error on it seems to work best, bc some sites are based on certain settings, plus its easier to remember if you learn it through experience rather than reading.3) Don't bother with it. Learn instead to just aim for the body. As was in the first halo it requires a little bit of a lead to hit anything in halo 3. In that sense give yourself a little "aiming room" when targeting a moving target. Say about half an inch on screen depending on distance.4) Get a mic, use it only to listen in on where certain individuals are on the map, its alot easier listening through your mic than it is through the speakers of your screen.5) people will do their own thing at the start of the game. Watch what they do and see where your opponite's go as well because many individuals will do the same thing, make sure you avoid having the whole team in a certain area, it can lead to early disaster.6) In halo 1 this is wrong, in halo 2 and 3 yes this is very true. However, also remember that there is always a fight going on for the sniper rifle. Nine out of ten says the person with the sniper rifle is already on the run trying to save their lives from your teammates. Also learn grenade physics. if you have a feeling about a corner throw a grenade and try to bounce it so it lands around the corner *easily done with practice* most will actually jump back and become visible on the MS.7) agreed. heck avoid jumping all together unless either a plasma grenade or a brute nade is at your feet. And another thing about going for cover. Never go for the possible cover if its more than 20 feet away. IOW don't go for cover if its so far away that you're an easy target to get hit anyways. If this is the case than weave back and forth and try to charge. Here's something important to remember, a sniper rifle has only 12 shots in it 4 in the clip 8 in stock. getting them to waste those shots is one of the best things you can do for your team. DO IT.8) once again learn where all the entrances are in a map to a certain area and learn how to switch back and forth between those spots to prevent ambushes. Never assume the person behind you will defend you, always be ready to guard your back. Now my own list.9) Learn to "Scan" the screen when ever you have a brief second to do so. *Scan = look over the entire screen* - This maybe confusing to some of you, but the more experienced players do this without even realizing it. After an engagement with an enemy there are a list of things to do unless another enemy is spotted. 1) reload your weapons, 2) "scan the screen" 3) *is done while doing 1 and 2)* now scanning involves moving your eyes in a certain pattern while still watching straight in front of you. My pattern goes top left, bottom right, top right, bottom left. What i've just done is looked over how much ammo and grenades i have left, looked over all four corners of the screen for any enemies and glanced at my motion sensor all within a tenth of a second or less *depending on how fast your eyes scan*.10) Never assume your safe. This is a big one. Most people i've played halo with, most when on a team assume that they're teammates will cover them. This is only true for a very limited portion of all players *excludes MLG players* Always be ready at all times to protect areas that are "choke points" once again the importance of knowing the map comes in here. Learn where spots are where it looks to be secure and try to find ways behind or in without being noticed. 11) Avoid vehicles. i smile whenever i see a group of people running to a vehicle. Yes, you may get a few free kills, but what happens when that vehicle is gone? or you get lasered? I make it a habit to personally seek out the laser just so i can nuke people who think that vehicles are safe from fire. It results in a free double or triple kill.something else as well.Currently i'm a lvl legit 40 in lone wolf, just to prove the validness of this information.

I'm guessing you know the basics people stated above, so I'm going to give you some advice that prevents you from making nooby moves and tipping the scale for yourself1. don't rely on reloading too long2. don't jump around too much especially when close to an enemy unless you are coming from behind them and they havn't seen you or know your there because it's easier for them to kill you with a punch then it is for you.3. go to customs and set respawning nades. practice bouncing the frag grenades. they are the most useful. it is cool to get sticks but the frag grenade is more versatile. It has the most range of all the grenades and in close range you can bounce it of the floor and have it detonate farther.hope that helps. there are more advanced tactics but you can check my guide on gamefaqs for that

1)You know the power drain right? try throwing it at your opponent and then back off so yu wont be caught iin it. the shoot yur opponent with a rapid-burst gun. 2)Try practicing shooting the sniper rifle at close range3)Pratice throwing sticky granades so that you can try and stick yur opponent if being chase or to kill a group of people closed together4)Make sure that you have a good team to support you and give you back up when ever neede5)Pratice alone in each stage so that you know where to go if yu need a hiding place, and so that yu can learn where all the wepons and vehicles are located6)Know where the Battle Rifle, Plasma Rifle, Rockets, and Sniper Rifle spawns on every map. *go into forge and go onto every map and check the respawn times and learn where spawn points are and this also helps on learning the map7)If you find yourself under sniper fire, DONT jump. Jumping is predictable and any sniper worth his grain can follow your parabola easily. Instead try weaving and heading for cover.8)It takes about 3 shots with the battle rifle to bring the shields down to melee. Less if you hit the person in the head. So always use the battle rifle instead of the assult rifle 9)Practice by going up against the brutes on campaing on legendary difficulty
