Also? Nintendo NEVER copies Sony. It is THE OTHER WAY AROUND!

 Ahahaha, good one! But yeah, I like being able to play GC games on mah Wii. Now if only I can get my dad to let me sell that old thing... :)

You mean the backwards compatibility?I personally like it. It's quite nice needing only one system to play all of my favorite games of TWO systems.I guess it is kinda like copying the PS2, but it was a fairly logical move for them.I think Nintendo did it with the Gameboy Advance. I'm not entirely sure, but I think the GBA could play old GB games.

I agree with you and yes nintendo did it with the gameboy advance. To me it is a logical and great function of the wii.

What's there not to like about full backwards compatibility. I can play all my Gamecube games on my Wii without going through the hassle of hooking up my GC.

I don't have any Game Cube games but I'm sure many others like it. The good thing is that there is still just one disk slot.

only thing i might dislike about it is that you still have to go up and turn off the Wii manually instead of just using the Wii remote. Also not too sure about the reset button and if it resets you back to the Wii homepage or actually resets the game like it normally does on the gamecube.

I think backwards compatibility was a very wise choice on Nintnedos part. Nothing is more frustrating than waiting for the next gen of your favorite console, only to find out that all that money you spent on your previous consules games and accessories wont be compatable. What I think really makes the Wii awsome apposed to the other two new gen consoles is that you can use the GC controllers, so its compatable in more than one way! How often can a companies old technology not only work with their new technologies, but be promenently useful as well? Some games are just easier to play with the GC controller.

Nintendo wasn't really.. 'copying' ps2. It was the same idea, but it's not like it was an original idea on Sony's part. Backwards compatibility has been around for years. The Game Boy Advance can play GB/GBC games, but that's just a recent example. The Atari 7800 was backwards compatible with the Atari 2600 - that is one of the earliest examples I know of.Even the SNES was originally supposed to have backwards compatibility for NES games, but the idea was scrapped so that Nintendo could put out the new console faster.

Who cares if they're copying Sony? It's a useful feature. I know I enjoy still being able to play Viewtiful Joe, should the mood grab me.

I love it. Being able to pop in games like F-Zero GX and Tales of Symphonia every now and then without having to take up more space with another system is a godsend.
