In which games is there a significant difference between hard/easy modes?I find that there usually isn't a HUGE amount of difference:The hard modes are harder, but once you get used to them, they seem normal...

hard modes are good to practice on. for example Halo. You play the game on legendary and you're bound to get better

The jump in difficulty in Warriors Orochi is rediculious. You can beat the story mode with a character on normal and try again on hard and the peons can 3-4 shot you. Chaos is even worse.

On some games the scale is short,on some its insane. All depends on how much the developers love you.

In truth, I think most "Hard Modes" are ridiculous. I end up being more disadvantageous because I'm limited or the enemies get the instant death capability or whatever it is to annoy you. Hard Modes should change the enemies' position, increase their number, revise the obstacles, and make it a completely gaming experience. I think the developers are extremely lazy when they just limit you or supersize the enemy's stats. One example is the Super Smash Bros Melee: All-Star is like Classic Mode except with one life and team battles are more popular. A very hard mode for Classic is just giving the computer a bigger handicap and Master Hand an instant kill move. If there was no freaking handicap, I could easily murder the computers (1 against 15 is an exception with handicaps). What they should have done was improve the computer's AI instead of giving them a handicap. It couldn't be helped since Melee was rushed, though. Yes, I played Brawl, and don't have an opinion about it because I'm too busy trying to master it.

In guild wars there is a hard mode. I think it is really harder in guild wars in hard mode. People seem to die alot in that mode. In regular console games hard mode is more challenging i think, but you only usually do hard mode after you have beaten the game once so its not really hard anymore because you know how to play the game and kinda know whats coming up ahead.

Try playing God mode on God Of War. It's so insanely hard. Almost impossible.

I think the difference in dynasty warriors between hard and easy is a difference. If you get really good at it it might not be a problem, but trying to kill Lu Bu on hard vs Easy is a major difference.

Contra III has a hard mode that is a lot harder than easy and normal, even if attacks kill you in one hit in all modes. It's mostly the number of enemies and the speed of their attacks, though hard mode has another boss at the end.

In Viewtiful Joe, the jump from Adult(Normal) to V-Mode(Hard) is pretty huge... but then from V to Ultra-V(Super Duper Hard) isn't that much of a difference, aside from the fact that you don't see the skulls that tell you where an enemy is going to attack(you actually have to learn what movements mean what attacks... but it isn't all that hard once you get the hang of it).

Some games like metal gear solid have EUROPEAN EXTREME. I mean there's such a massive difference between that and easy mode. Hard mode just basically adds another layer to a game without much thought

It depends. For Castlevania games, if you already have all the good weapons and skills, the hard mode is easy. But for Diablo, the enemies in hard mode (Hell mode in the game), they're way tougher, like being immune towards magical and physical attacks (XD). It's really tough when you meet up with such monsters, and your stats such as resistance is also lowered. This hard mode is really tough...

On COD2, going from Easy to Veteran is VERY noticeable. It takes like 100 bullets to kill you on Easy. Around 5 on Veteran. It all depends on the game though.

I think "Hard" mode isn't really worth it because you are now good at the game, so it seems to be the same difficulty. They just want you to re-play the game.

well, when you play games like halo, it changes between the normal mode and legendary by alot! It helps you play multiplayer better! but some games don't change to much, like super smash bros melee. hard and very hard are pretty much the same in my opinion.

I find that if you are already familiar with the type of gameplay, ie. FPSs like Halo, you can start playing on the hardest difficulty and will improve much more rapidly than if you were to play on easy or normal. If the hardest ends up being a little too much you can always drop back a difficulty level and make a significantly higher amount of progress. If you are really bad at the particular game-play, then this is a bad idea though since the basic skills still need to be developed.

the hard mode in most game yes its overated but honestly some games adds more of a challenge for the player like for me soul calibur 3 play it on easy or normal i kick butt hard i get owned 2-3 fights in. Depending also on the type of game it is like a simulator game kinda like GH3 hard and expert are both the same but expert on some songs is extremely difficult and you say to yourself i could beat this song on hard you do it on hard and its very easy no challenge.well i dont think its overated i think its there to pose a challenge on ppl so they get better.
