well there's actually quite a few games that change considerably... such as... the original Ninja Gaiden... or Phantasy Star... Halo... Call of Duty... and really hard mode is only useful if you want to hone your skills for online play... but I personally cant play a game whose story i already know... it so the only games I really play hard mode on are FPS's or like Phantasy Star type games because you get more experience and better items and all...

Unfortunately, no AI is perfect, so once you learn the quirks of a computer player, its not that hard to exploit them and win, no matter what the setting. I'd love to play against actual ppl, but most games charge you to do that XD

In most games "hard" mode is like: enemies more health and power, you die faster. It would be cool if u could only play certain levels after you have beaten hard mode or something.

Many Capcom games show the difference, and Hard is just a tiny step forward for Capcom, Especially in DMC,Vietiful Joe,RE of course, and many others.Hard Mode in Jow is nothing compared to V Rated, good god that mode is evil, and Must Die mode in DMC is annoying far worse than Very Hard. And dont get me started on RE.Onimusha was hell of fun on Devilish.

hard mode is only hard if you dont play the game every second of the day. for normal people it is hard, for people like us, it is not that challenging

The Fire Emblem games (except for Sacred Stones) is reasonably difficult on hard mode (maniac mode in the case of the Japanese version of FE9). If you try them out, you'll see what I mean. If you want insanely difficult, get the "China FE" patch for FE8 (trust me, Sacred Stones will turn from pathetic to "HOLY !").I do see a difference when playing on hard mode, some less than others. For most of the games I've played that do have the modes, I didn't see that much of a difference. But when you do have a hard mode that stands out, you will see how much easier it is in easy mode, and think "how pathetically easy it is".

Hard mode usually entails lazy game design choices. Just ramp up damage or throw more enemies at you. If it's done right though, like making enemies act smarter, making it more realistic (in the game's own terms), then it's cool.

Guitar hero. I personally still have a bit of problems in Medium. King of Fighters. The computer really starts to use special and super cancel.

Ghost Recon! Hell, in easy mode enemies can't see you. In Hard mode, you can't see them!

I know... there are too many "Hard" modes out there which are really the same but with one or more enemies, or where each hit does like, two or three more damage

Depends on the game. Certain games have 'hard' modes that were not meant for humans, and others are so easy, they should call it 'harder-than-normal-but-not-THAT-hard'...

If hardmode is available from the start, I pick that. I'm not afraid of a challenge right from the start but if I find it to hard I just start over. In most of the Fire Emblem games you can unlock the harder mode, which sucks since I want to have the option to play it without having to complete the game first.

I like to start games in hard mode. Because then you get a good gameplay, that takes along time. And you have to actually be good to play, and work at it.
