I don't think your loved ones would enjoy their lives very much, what with having to take care of a paralyzed family member all the time.

The way the question is defined makes it obvious, in my opinion.Quick, painful death is preferable to long, drawn out, painfully aware of my diminished existence death.

Hahaha, I made this thread 3 years ago! That's neat that it's still kicking around and getting spammed in today! Just so I don't get Nazi'd by mods I'll contribute once again to this thread...Interestingly enough, I just brought up this subject YET AGAIN with a friend of mine, and he made a good point when he said,"Think of all the people who you've lost over the years that meant a lot to you, that you would love to have back even as a quadriplegic."I believe his father passed away when he was young, so I understood where he was coming from. I hadn't thought of it before, but as much as it would suck to be a vegetable, you have to consider that it sucks for your loved ones if you're dead, ya know?

I'd rather choose paralysis, because as long as I'm a alive there would be hope that one day I could live the I was before. And besides, the future might discover new medicinal technologies that could remedy the paralysis condition.

death would be my first choice...I'm not very partial to the idea of spending the rest of my "life" as a tomato

Death. Though mainly to see what happens in the afterlife, if there is one.

I don't know if I'll be conscious or not. I think I may choose paralysis if I'm conscious because I can still enjoy art and beauty through my eyes but if I'm blind, maybe death. I know I'll go to Heaven (yes, heaven) so death doesn't sound too bad. IT's still scary but still death. Unless I can see. Then paralysis. And I'd spend the rest of my days in a museum or something.

I would choose death because then I wouldn't have to waste anybody's time or money. Why am I so important that people will go broke helping me. If I really loved those people, I would want to die so they can go live normal lives albeit mournful when I die.

Well, i think that even if your paralyzed, you can still do certain things and achieve more goals. Maybe it's even easier to be remembered because of the paralysis so i believe living is better in every case over death.

Uhmm.. I would probably rather die than be completely paralysed. It'd be so frustrating that I'd probably lose my mind otherwise.

death death death mosdef. i've always thought bout this kinda situation, and it horrifies me. how sweet death would be in comparison to a life of paralysis. same goes for being stuck in a coma. i mean, what's the point. no matter how hard i try to make life fulfilling at that point, i will always feel like there is a huge lack in my life. i've spent months in a cast, and even that experience was excruciating. for someone who has experienced good health and a fully-functioning body, something like paralysis is often too difficult to handle. if it came down to that situation, i say to pull my plug: deuce, world

Death would be a better choice for me..paralysis is equivalent to slow tormented death..worst of all u cant even move but your brain is still active..its really pitiful

If I was gone from the neck down, I would rather be dead. Unless there was a way I could get feeling back in my arms, but if its a done deal, I would rather be gone, and not suffering.I have a friend in Canada, that drives racecars, that was involved in a very bad crash 2 years ago, it almost killed him, and he can move his arms, but can't walk, he can't function to well, but he knows your there, they are working with him up at this place in Canada, and he's slowly getting better each day.My dad also drove racecars, and in 2005 was in a bad crash, breaking his neck, and he is lucky, and I mean very lucky to be walking today. When he was sitting in the car, he had no feeling in his arms or legs. He has always said, that if I am gone from the neck done, that I'd rather be dead, and I agree with that.

Well, if I become a vegetable, I'd probably be in constant pain and extremely bored. When I bored, I usually just go to sleep until something interesting is about to happen. So, if I'm going to be in a coma for the rest for my life, I'd just take off life-support and save my family the pain and money.

I rather die, If I couldn't do anything. My bane is my thought of being able to do things. if I can't do things then I'd rather die.
