The posterior pituitary doesn't produce any hormones. It just releases (secretes) them (oxytocin and vasopressin)

Answers: The stomach can go as low as pH 1.0, due to the hydrochloric acid it secretes. ~Kit-Kit~TehKittehKat

Sudden need of energy but inavailability of the required amount of oxygen causes anaerobic respiration to occur forming lactic acid which hurts.

Saliva may be 98% water, but that other 2% is shared with a lot of other things:EnzymesAmylase - breaks down starches.Lingual Lipase - hydrolyze triglycerides into glycerides & fatty acids.Lysozyme - acts as an antibacterial by attacking bacterial cell walls.Lactoperoxidase - antibacterial.Lactoferrin - yet another antibacterial.Immunoglobulin A - guess what? It's an antibody that plays a big anti-microbial role in the body.Acid Phosphatase A - frees up phosphate groups from other molecules.Acid Phosphatase B - same function as A.NAD(P)H dehydrogenase (quinone) - takes a part in the biosynthesis of steroids.N-acetylmuramoyl-L-alanine amidase - splits up certain polypeptide bonds.Superoxide dismutase - Decompose superoxides into H2O2 & O2Glutathione S-transferase - I think these are anti-microbials (not sure.)Aldehyde dehydrogenase - speed up the oxidation rates of aldehydes.Glucose-6-phosphate isomerase - helps in the process of glycosis.Kallikrein - acts as a peptidase.ElectrolytesNaKCaMgCl-HCO3-PO4-3I2MiscellaneousMucusEpidermal growth factorThiocynate - antibacterialH2O2Orpiorphin - pain killerBacteria, lots of it.

Essentially, it is the removal of islets from a healthy pancreas (the hormone producing parts) to replace the diseased/not working islets of a person afflicted with diabetes type 1. The idea is to make the patient insulin free and live a normal life again. However, many complications usually arise such as failures and the repressing of the islets by the body (body targets the islets) so the surgery/procedure is usually backed up with immune system suppressants (immunosuppressants.)

'CAUSE I SAID SO ****!I think it's because it parallels the effects of the flight or flight response. Epinephrine, also known as adrenaline, is released into the bloodstream causing it to shut down what it deems unnecessary bodily functions. Blood is pulled away from the stomach area and the muscles in the corresponding area. Since your muscles can only experience blood loss for a short time, they start spasming and cramping up, albeit not in a crippling way.
