Seriously, it is a good idea but most people will then use calculator for maths or lie to parents to do homework and go play some games? What do you think about it?

I enjoy the flexibility of being able to turn things on online, instead of having to go to class. Taking tests online are good too. Sure, lots of people cheat, or don't get the work done, but thats their own business. It is really beneficial for people who use the online homework and testing systems 'correctly' (whatever that means). If you are going to cheat, then you wont learn anything and in the end it will only be harder for you. People who know and understand that will be less likely to cheat no matter what the format for turning something in is.I know for things like essays, checking for copy written material is easier when its turned in online, because there are programs that can just scan the contend and cross reference it with the web. With a paper copy though, it all has to be done manually. Turning it in online, for things like that is actually easier for everyone involved (and it helps the environment too, because if you don't have to print out the essay, you don't have to use the paper and trees get saved).

I myself would enjoy Online homework much more so then on paper. As the previous poster said, it is easier to check things and cross-reference. However, I believe that it would be more beneficial to others if things were left on paper. While I know I would never cheat, there is no guarantee that others would not. They may not be able to resist the temptation of getting an easy "A" on a test with just a few clicks. While it is true that it is their fault and that they should know the consequences, I believe if it would be better if we left things on paper and forced them not to cheat. This would help them in the long run, by taking away their means to cheat and hurt themselves.

Lets just say I'm the first to say NO, because I can't really think Homework as a fun thing to do. I see it as if it was suffering. Online, it would be interesting, but you are putting your time to games which is wasting plenty of your serious career in school to grad and decide your living.

Homework is homework. End of story. No matter how much you jazz it up, it's still a teachers revenge!

Homework online/ on paper is really no different. For certain classes, its pointless, such as Algebra, for English its ideal.Classes online are horrible.I know a few people that go to a computer based school, all are in advanced classes, etc.Problem is, I know the material better, but they're ahead of me.A computer can't tell you how and what you should learn, you need a teacher.

It will certainly much better than doing it on paper. plus if someone doesnt do his work and plays games instead, he will get punished so he has to do them sooner or later, problem solved :D

I go to school online. It sucks. I hate every minute of it. I don't think this quite counts as a debate, however.

At my school, we already have a system for doing homework online.I find that the problem with this is that I often get distracted from doing homework, and play games instead of doing the homework.

The college I'm enrolled in just recently switched over to the online-homework world. It may be conveinient, but I get much more distracted than actually going to the library or campus.

i think it would be a very good idea, because it is easier to use the internet or computer stuff to help do homework.and then they can just send it to the teachers,so they dont lose it or say "my dog ate my homework".and it is easier to keep track of work.

I attend online high school, so I can tell you what online homework is like. It's tough. We are allowed to use calculators and often other books and references as well. It just means that the tests are harder because they ask you to analyze the material or perform a different type of problem using the same concepts depending on what course you are in. Therefore, looking up formulas and such doesn't really help you much because you have to know your stuff. I think it is a good idea because it discourages useless memorization and encourages true understanding of a topic, much to the dismay of us students.

that is right, jesa360. I would love online homework, but the tests would be harder. It would just be the same! Plus, we get easily distracted during we are using the computer. It makes us go to a online game website. Isn't it better to have hard homework, easy tests, and no distraction?

I like online homeworks only for the fact if i cant be bothered doing them i use some excuse to explain why i cant do the homeworks, my business studies teacher sucks at IT related stuff so I've got off piles of homework by blaming spam filters, automatic inbox deletion, broken links etc.But as for actually getting work done there pretty hit and miss, I mean there's not that many excuses for not doing a real homework but for Internet there's lots but the work can be alot better, it can cut down on alot of needless writing and save alot of time.

i do like the flexability of being able to do it online, but for many classes (at least in college) if you do your homework online, that is often times the only acceptable method of turning in your homework, so if your internet crashes or your power goes out then your out of luck. And that can be a real bummer.

I think online courses are a great substitute for those with limited/unflexible schedules. It's far more convenient and time-friendly. Though there is a barrier of clarity that only a professor can help you with face to face.

Social science and English classes are already ideal for online homework, but math classes generally aren't.It should certainly be an option.

i agree with neoyoyo, math classes are things that are more easily taught in real life than online. but otherwise, online courses would be good.

online homework could be done by anyone.

A significant amount of my homework is submitted electronically, but that is becaue I go to genius school, and treehuggers don't want to waste on printing. (Not that I'm against it.)

In light of the fact that we are in the technological era and any answer for any question can just about be found on the internet then reworded into out own answer for said question the real question should be is what's the point of homework anymore? When it comes down to it that almost something like 75% of all papers handed in aren't answered from our own minds but instead the internet are the students even learning anything from homework anymore?

Nah, too much typing hurts my fingers. Besides, how would you do math and physics? Kinda hard for a second language too (accents)
