It's not nice for them..It's like being overweight is illegal..If they feel that the pleasure of eating food is good that they would risk their lives for it, then it's good..As long as they know consequences and ready..Just give them advice, not order them..

I agree. Seriously, if you do an exercise for 20 minutes 3 times a week, it can help you and keep you in check.Laziness is bad.

A quicker way to increase your metabolism is to eat bits of food throughout the day. So you'll have a health bar for breakfast, a snack or two before lunch, maybe a salad for lunch and so on until you go to bed. My uncle did this for a month and the weight dropped easily, along with exercise, proper sleep and not drinking to much.

Well, yes it is true that there are alot of overweight people, but some are just being overweight because they don't pushed theirself to the limit. They tend to relax and ease in life. Soon the world will be fat as you know it. We need to stop this now. People have tried rehabilation clinic and diets, but still the fat people increasing. Sorry about using "fat, but they are just plain overweight. In my opinion, I think we should stop the school from fattening kids and let the parents provide the food. If the government has something to say about it, there were slacking off because every second a kid is fat. Take action now and get rid of overweight people.

This topic caught my attention, because I'm overweight. You know, Overweight isn't just about eating a lot and/or eating fast foods AND laziness. It is also a matter of metabolism. Some people have a better metabolism than others. I've got some friends who eat lots of fast foods, candies, etc and are as thin as paper. I'm not saying that the rest doesn't matter. It's just that it's not the only thing.I admit it: I'm sort of lazy and I love any kinds of food, but I also do sports and I'm healthier than many of my friends, who live locked inside their homes.

There are way to many overweight people around. honestly though I /don't/ blame fast food chains. I blame it on the people themselves for not controlling themselves or their kids and the fact that any healthy food is so expensive. Genetics and metabolism have a factor, but for the most part, that just means you have to take more care than average.Hell I'd eat nothing but health foods if i could freaking afford it.

Being lazy isn't necessarily an issue for everybody. I'm probably in the 0.01% that can be lazy and not gain a thing.I'm definately NOT in the overweight catagory. I probably don't eat well enough, but laziness isn't completely an issue, nor is eating junk food. Or both.Dieting/exercising by themselves may help, but each person reacts different to different stimuli. One person could need 2000 calories a day to maintain weight, while another needs 1500. Another may need 3000. Each person is different and their needs are different. The reality is: diets aren't always the solution. Neither is walking 5 miles a day (or whatever you do). You have to learn what is best for you, and then to go out and do it.

Honestly it has a lot to do with the "normal" food people eat now a days. While being lazy isn't exactly healthy either, you can maintain a good weight if you actually eat good and watch how much you're eating. Fish/chicken/veggies/oats etc etc. Not pizza/icecream/bacon  Unfortunately it would probably take some harsh laws to make any real changes in what people are eating.

Actually, you could sit at the computer all day and not gain weight and be fit. You just have to get up to take a walk around the room every 30 minutes or you could just eat healthy. I used to be 10 pounds away from being overweight in elementary school, but since the chips in the school store kept getting more expensive I stopped buying them, now I never eat them unless offered. Then from habit I always got up from the computer to do something when I was bored (yes I was bored) every 30 min or so. I ate 5 small meals a day instead of 3 big ones, and even then I always never finished the meals since I wasn't hungry. I drank tea and seeing me drinking soda is very rare. Now in middle school I'm 10 pounds away from being underweight, but am fit.You just have to make healthy habits, even if a person looks skinny, they can be very unhealthy or overweight. Exercising is important too, forget 30 minutes a day, start at 5 minutes, then increase by 5 every week, you'll eventually make a habit out of it. When I look at cheeseburgers and fatty foods, I see it as disgusting, I'd rather eat fruit, since it tastes better, and is healthy. Of course people whose metabolisms are different and those whose genetics are different are an exeption, but thats less than 20% of the overweight people.

I agree that being overweight is becoming all to common. The sad thing is that all the healthy and nutrisious foods, are too costly. When then all the junk food is priced lower. This influences people to buy junk food.

That is true. People just need to eat healthier and get active. Another thing is that schools need to stop lying to themselves. I refuse to believe school food is healthy in any form. Also, how do they think they're going to stop obesity if they take out recess? Let's not even get into that brilliant idea....

I can't see how people can just neglect their bodies so much. it makes me sad because i know a person that was a very athletic person and that person is fat. but i'll be honest here because some people have disorders which makes them eat too much and i feel extremely sorry for those people but for the people who can actually lose the weight please i ask you to try and have a go at any sort of fitness. i can say i'm lazy and used to be fat and it was all because i was lazy but then i got into fitness and ive lost, to my point of view, lots of weight. i don't enjoy fitness but if it keeps me skinny then i'm ok with it.

The world is getting heavier and heavier by the moment. I blame fast-food and machines. Back in the day you had to do a lot of things manually. Look at us now, fat and sweaty. Though lucky me, I have a high metabolism. So I'm pretty much skinny.

On the contrary, there aren't enough overweight people out there. The more fat people there are out there, the more skinny and therefor more attractive I am in comparison, and therefore, the higher I am on the food chain when it comes to dating. :wtf:

just over 1 third of people in australia are over weight. The government said there putting all the prices up on junk food because they dont want a population of fat people. i am a lil bit chubby myself but i would push myself and become one of the best cross country runners in my school or one of the fastest in my basketball team it is just that motivation that keeps me going, my best friend is skinny as a stick cause he has a high metabolism and he stuffs his face and alwaiiz playing games,i use to have a high metaboism but i got so use to eating now it gone n i became fat . So i work it off by going for walks eveyday and pushin myself to be the best. Everyone shuld at least go for a walk for half an hour a day or do abb exercises. those program on tv that say this is the best machine to loose wait dont listen to that they just want you to pay money for what you can do by urself.

I see many overweight people, whom the prices on junk food here in Canada I don't see many changes. There's still vending machines at places such as Ice Rinks, Swimming Pools, Community Centres, EVEN DANCE STUDIOS!I went to my Dance Studio, I walked into the building, first thing I see was some doors, and a VENDING MACHINE!I went to many places to exercise myself, but I still see places whom has Ice Rinks. My school used to have vending machines, but they took it away because of the high calories and fat.

I also agree that there are many overweight people and that all those fad diets/crash diets that you see does not really help anyone lose weight and keep the weight off. Many of the diets that people are doing, especially the crash diets like, the 10 day master cleanse diet, really only temporarily removes weight at the moment when you are on the diet, but as soon as you begin to eat normal foods, you will gain all your weight back and probably more. This is because the amount of calories you consume are simply not enough for your body, therefore causing it to go into "starvation mode". Once your body is in this mode, whatever food you eat will quickly be absorbed into fat because your body thinks it will be starved again and this way it will have some fat to feed off of. So this could be the one of the reasons why people are overweight, because they starve their body on a diet then once they are off it they consume everything they couldn't eat on the diet, therefore gaining more weight. I also do not think that everyone, in order to stay fit, should run multiple miles a day. Everyone's body is different so they should find out what workout is best for them and stick with that. Along with a personalized workout, eating healthy is extremely important. However, I believe that you don't have to cut out all the sweets and junk foods as long as you don't eat too much of it and you continue exercising.
