I'd advice against buying the latest of the latest. It's often too expensive and isn't that much of an improvement over the previous one. Only exception is the graphics card. There's currently a war going on between Nvidia and ATI which gives you great performance for really low prices. Get the Geforce 8800 GT. You won't regret it.What you should never buy is a QuadCore, stick with DualCore. QuadCore isn't supported by most games yet and usually gets worse results. QuadCore's only good for 3D modelers and video editors.

I'd go for an AMD 64bit processor with Win XP or Vista 64bit edition with nvidia 8800GT or, if you have money, 9800 X2 with at least 4GB of RAM.And, if you just wanna play games, get Windows, otherwise get Linux, you'll be able to play some cutting edge games (like Quake Wars and UT3) and you'll have more horsepower than with windows, specially Vista.

no, not exactly. Quad's get similar results to Dual Cores in games, and actually new games are increasingly supporting Quad such as Crysis for one. A really nice, powerful computer can set you back a long way. Prices can go over $10,000 USD for a really high-end computer. All the stuff is included in that price; keyboard, monitor, speakers, the optional sound card.

If you wanna pay alot of money, then get a computor from Voodoo. the prices there are crazy, the cheapest I found was like 5,000 dollars. Just to change the color is about 650 bucks if you get a custom color.

If you want top shelf everything, you'll be looking at a price tag of over $5,000. @Above poster,I wouldn't bother with buying from a manufacturer. For the same price their stuff costs, you could pretty much build an entire top of the shelf system and have some cash to spare.

Probably you'll be spending about $500.00 or $600 for a monster machine[if you chose good yet cheap parts for ur computer], but just build your own computer. MUCH cheaper[if u know what you're looking for, what parts u need] than buying a pre made computer, and may be as good or even better than a pre made PC. Probably go to www.newegg.com to o looking for computer parts, they got some pretty nice computer parts, some cheap or expensive.Probably you'll be spending about $500.00 or $600 for a monster machine[if you chose good yet cheap parts for ur computer], but just build your own computer. I suggest you to buy a storage system rather display cardHere is my recommendation1.SuperTrak EX8350,Promise's one,has 8 SATA PORT,SUPPORTS RAID-5,PCI-E 4X2.4 by 500GB or 4 by 1TB harddisk if you likeSince Display cards are easily outdated within 6 months,So you should pay for that, although the cost may be bad for you,but it worths for at least 5 yearsMake sure you have enough slot for your display card, check your slot very carefully, only few models has more than 1 16X

Well since so many different prices have been thrown at you I'll let you know this. When buying a computer that you plan on gaming with take into consideration what games you play most. How can you get the best performance out of those games for the lowest price. You don't have to spend your savings to get a nice computer that you will make you smile day after day.I myself have a laptop that can play games that deskstops sometimes choke on. How much did I pay? I paid $1,199.99 and it has Nvidia Geforce 8800M GTS. Along with that comes 3Gb of System Memory (RAM) and it has a 250GB Hard Drive and even has another bay where I could put an additional Hard Drive if I needed to. Plus it could support Raid 0 if you know what that is. Best of all is it can still be upgraded in every way except the graphics card which cannot because of the motherboard it has.All in all I can play just about any game on the shelf with this and I paid just under $1,200.00 (USD) if I were to upgrade the processor to a Intel T9300 I could play Crysis on this laptop. So really when you go to buy a gaming computer make sure you look everything over. Don't be afraid to ask questions and make sure that you are going to be happy with it. At the same time keep in mind that within a year there could be something even greater out and you could go back to see that sweet rig you wanted for a much lower price. Its normally best to get the last year computer rather then buying the newest thing out on the shelves. You will also find amazing reviews on those computers unlike the newer computers that come out where you won't find much information about them other then the specs and price.Hope this helped!By the way I have a Gateway P-6831FX Laptop and sure its not the best of the best but it closes in on the best with ease and it has so much potential. Just make sure you keep an eye out for great deals.

Don't spend above 5k in your new PC.It will cost amost 2k lower the next year.I think a PC with about 2-2,5k will be fine and will be able to run Crysis without many problems.Of course,if you want resolutions higher than 1600*1200,then you are in for more money.

Well, Intel used to only have Core 2 Duo Qxxxx or Core 2 Extreme Xxxxx, but now there's Core 2 Extreme QXxxxx. That'll set you back a LOT. Next, the best motherboard you can find. Then, two 8800Ultras (or when they come out, two 9800GX2). Four sticks of DDR3 memory (highest clock and capacity). A >1KW PSU, which you'll definitely need for this setup. An X-Fi sound card, a Blu- Ray drive, an amazing looking case, and four 1TB HDDs in RAID-5. You're looking at a very unappealing price tag. Oh, don't forget the 30" LCD monitor :(Don't forget your peripherals, such as 7.1 surround sound, a gaming keyboard (I personally like the Tarantula), and a G5 gaming mouse.

Heh, the best currently available Core 2 Extreme will set you back $1059.99 before taxes (http://www.newegg.co...N82E16819115034). Then add 2 GeForce 8800 Ultra's if you can find any (MSRP: $829) and you're already at about $2718 with just two components.

Yes, well... I would say that the sweet spot for buying ranges is in the $1000 to $1500 range (that's if you built the machine). That'll last you a while and will be very customizable.I'd recommend the Q6600, 8800GT, and 4GB of DDR2-800 memory as your main components.

I would get some faster RAM, but the card and the processor are good bangs for the buck.

About $3000 in my opinion. I got the Core 2 Extreme plus 8GB RAM. That was close to half of the overall price of me building the computer from ordered parts.

Mine cost around four grand and it's the maintenance cost thats the problem. That baby shell out so much heat that if a plastic casing were used it would melt.So i had to make an air conditioned room and trust me it was worth it.The specs are two 4 gig ram cards, two Ge force 8800 graphics card, a quad core processor, two 200 gig hard drives, a heat sink,3 Terra byte external hard drive. You could say it was custom built and its really heavy to..heh heh got a discount on the parts

personally, I think the best laptops to rely on right now are sony and apple computers. Apple computers are less likely to crash on people because most viruses aren't created for apple computers so they don't need virus protection. I also like Sony because it works well. But never buy the latest models. If I were to buy a computer and didn't have to move it around, then I'll just get a cheap pc because they are more efficient (well at least in my opinion).

high end computers cost in excess of 5000+. I don't suggest spending that much, a good mainstream computer 1500+ would suit your needs and should be ample for gaming.

It really depends on if you choose to built it yourself or buy it from a company. Although either way, you're looking at a big bill.
