Both Emulators, and real games have there good and bad sides. For Roms/Emus, yes they're free, but sometimes you might encounter a glitch, or the game could lag, but seeing as this is in the GBA section, gba games don't have that much problem with lagging. Also that roms save files in your computer and if that file is ever corrupted, deleted, or moved, you will have to well find another sav. file or start all over again. As for the real deal here, the only downside is that they cost money, but of course, gba games are very cheap now. The other big problem with real games are laziness. I have to get in my car drive to gamestop, purchace the game, drive back, and finally play it, while with an emu, I click a button and have it ready in a matter of seconds. I prefer roms because i cant find my gba :/

Personally, I stand by emulation for almost all purposes, in terms of GBA. My laptop gives me the portability, an issue cited by others, and soon enough I'll have a netbook, further increasing my portability. With VBA I have almost perfect hardware and software emulation, and there's one other fact that has to be made clear - since I have some eye problems, I don't get everything out of a game that others might at the standard zoom rate. The ability to maximize it out to cover a 19" screen - or in the case of my one friend, a 40" screen (great for Advance Wars single-cartridge multiplayer, by the by) - makes me a lot more able to appreciate the artwork put into a game.

imo, emulating gba is best. the games run at full speed and you have filters and other options.

I like both sas well. Emulation you can copy and paste cheats, and use the spacebar to speed things up. on the real thing it is portable.

for me a little of both, on an emulation its free and its easy to get use to it fast but on the the real thing you can play it anywhere.

its a toss up, though i voted for the real thing.emu is great, i shudder to think of what my life would belike with out emulation...but without buying games, the whole game industry eventually DIES.that and for my gba, i like having games playable on long travels...would be much better i could find a flash cart thing though...cant seem to find em anywhere online.

with emulation you can save whenever, have much more control of game eg speed things up, and make it full screen!

Emulation is definately alot easier for me so I had to vote for that. But it's not as good as playing on the actual console, on the move.

The real game has its strong points but I like emulations better because it's free and after a few years my NES, SNES, and gameboys died on me.

Welll i think the emulations is better in the fact you can speed up the running and walking time because i find it a pain in pokemon games that you walk so slow and also it makes it so much easier to grind your pokemon faster because i played like 5 hours and i had a 50 Blaziken

yes, it does and it makes the game bad to play, unless its a game like FE8, then you can make it hard

Pokemon Emulator for the win!

I use emulator and will stick with it. Reason:1. Its free.2. Games are free.3 Free GameShark4. More features than real GBA (Graphic Filters, Sound Enhancer etc.)

I think emulation and the real game both have their strong and weak points. For emulation you can download games for free. But if they might have very awkward controls or have problems unlike the real thing. On the real game there is a bigger chance of no problems and everything usually works well. So which do you prefer?

i like both, but when come to hand helds or cartrides i prefer emulations!

it depends on how old the generation of the console is.i emulate GBA but something like gamecube is better left to the real thing (for now)also, I hate downloading games that the companies might still be selling copies of.if its a matter of going out and getting a recycled copy, then i'm not hurting the profitof anyone in particular anyway

I love Emulation like playing the game on wide screen and the cheating ablilties are increased by so much but cheating can also ruin the fun so : P

i prefer emulation for three reasons--accelerator (those long cutscenes are now short), save states (pwns boss battles), and the built-in gameshark on some emulators.

Emulation is Free and barely glitches.Real games dont glitch unless youve had it for a long time or you drop it or the game parts have scratches.

i prefer emulation because the storage of hundreds of games as files takes up a hell of a lot less space than the real thing. plus cheats are easier to enter and they save, save states, easy access of games. patches. imports, rares that i would otherwise be unable to play (custers revenge)
