Sort of the other way around. I fell in love with an amazing girl, then after we had our fun, we became close friends and still are after the many years that have passed. Sure, it feels awkward and like something's missing at times, but she's a great person and will continue to be my close friend for as long as I can make it last.

yeah but it never works out. something awkward happens and then 9 times out of ten you've ruined the relationship.

I have once! And I agree it is really awkward! We had to even sit in front of each other on a restaurant once. Gosh I really hated it! All the others was like talking and such while I was avoiding his eye contact ALL times! I was so embarassed! :gs:

yes...he was my ex...now our friends are wondering how to either get us back together or accept that we're not really that in-love...sometimes I get irritated when they bring up the subject of how "we" are when they should know best the answer to that...~_~

Totally had this happen. We dated for a year, lived together 6 months, and we argued all the time.I've heard that's what happens when best friends date, but all in all, it was the best relationship i've had. She's just kinda a crazy beyotch now... and i miss my best friend since we broke up.='<

I have never fallen in love with an old friend. I would definitely think that it would be somewhat awkward.

It's happened before. My current girlfriend and I were friends for a few years before we started dating.

And how did it feel afterwards. >=(GPs were deducted for this post, please read the rules! - reddeath26

Yes, yes I have. I wasn't all that bad until I told her. Why did I do that? It wasn't awkward at all until she knew it!

Yeah, for three years in high school. Stayed close for a while, once I left. Never dated her. Don't regret a whole lot...could've chased much worse.

Yeah, but it's working out perfectly :D Being a close friend give you a push to try even harder to make it work because you don't want to lose a close friend either. And you'll understand and know more about her. If you could be good friendfirst it means you can connect, which is essential imo.
