Who has a dell? I have the XPS 420 which has pretty much everything a man could possibly desire. intel quad core 2.4ghz processor speed, 3 gigs of RAM, 640 gigs of hard drive, nVidia Geforce 8800GT graphics card. Its amazing. plus a 20 inch lcd monitor... i really enjoy it.. Anyone else have it? or another dell?

I hate dell why buy an expensive made one when you can get it 10x cheaper building your own I do understand some people can't but thats when I turn to HP :( and gaming you could customize or you could go to Expensive Velocity.

Don't really a big fan of them. I don't think they're really reliable to top quality stuff, but they are quite cheap. However they're XPS line is quite impressive, and would be the only line I would recommend.

first of all HP sucks, but i must agree why buy something that cost 1200 when you can purchase parts and build it yourself. even if you dont know how to there a plenty of guides on the internet available to assist you in building your own. or you could always ask and im sure somebody would post in this section how to build your own laptop/pc

Unlikely to be the case unless you're upgrading everything to the highest level and not using any discounts whatsoever (which would be horribly stupid by any standard) and only then comparing it to parts that are offered on sale. But yeah, I use Dells because they're cheap. They usually work quite well since I don't usually have any need for especially resource-intensive things, and being able to shave hundreds of dollars off a price tag is nice.

Every Dell I've used was crap, maybe it's just bad luck or cause I bought cheap models, but I had a bad experience with Dell CPU's. I do still use the monitor though, great resolution and was pretty cheap.

well given that Dell is built with cheap and low grade parts, their latest models are not bad but still with the crappy low grade parts, and $1800+ for a nice fully customized laptop is not really worth it when you can get better deals with other companies like Toshiba with their summer sales. I'll give them their alien ware line though that line is top grade gaming line but still not cheap...

I think dell is overpriced. I built my own computer for £425 , the same computer would cost me nearly £1000 from dell!

If you go with dell, go with their XPS line, as the tech support is top notch and as a added plus its actually based in US/Canada. (I know this as I am a tech agent for them :) Also, XPS don't use proprietary parts.

well my whole desktop system only cost me $79.99 and that's only for buying a new 19" LCD on black friday, I pretty much biult it myself...my keyboard is IBM which I got from work, I got my CPU from my aunt for free which is a dell dimension w/2.4 Ghz Pentium 4 HT processor and 2GB of ram....the only problem about this cpu is that the hard disk is broken so I took my hd from my old desktop which is a Western Digital 250GB 7200 rpm.So you really don't have to spend alot of money in order to have a good system as long as you something about hardware. XD

dell isn't bad, i my ordered two identical desktops for my brother and I, and mine worked but then my brother's got F*^%$#$ up some how, not really sure why (he must have put a lot of crapp on it) anyway i think the particular model was great they made it very easy to get the hard drive and cd-rom, and cards out, no scrws. but unfortunetally i think they discontinued that afterwards.

they were good for a while when they had decent call centers. All i've resorted to from them is laptops + complete care warranty. now that they're closing all of their call centers, including the one they just built where i live. they're moving them all over to some place in aisa. Can't remember where but they all sound the same to me. barely understand what your saying and don't understand what they're doing.

I used to have a Dell computer, but I regret buying it. I hated that their RAM is s specific, once I tried to upgrade it and bought two 512 mb sticks from tigerdirect only to find out they had the wrong amount of pins. I later found out you need to buy the RAM from Dell, and it was really expensive. I ended up going with hp, and I haven't had any problems yet.

I don't know what everybody is talking about, but I have worked on a lot of DELL computers and never had a problem (and I am talking about internal hardware work, not like installing software or replacing a keyboard or someting like that, I mean like HD and RAM replacements and add ons)Dell is not as propriatary as you may think, DELL is one of the only brands of computers I know of that aren't built of off the shelf components that actually works with name brand hardware, for example, you can at least install an ATI Radeon or an Nvivia Geforce card, unlike other computer manufacturers like Sony Vaio, DELLs are upgradable, it just matters what model you get, I just easily installed an HD and operating system on a DELL without a problem not too long agoI actually prefer DELL over other computer manufacturers, Compaq and HP (the same companies) are okay, and Toshiba is alright as well, but other brands like Sony Vaio, E-Machine, Acer, etc. just suck, as for Leonovo, they are okay, but it seems like if you were to remove the Leonovo logo and replace it with an Acer logo, you couldn't figure out the difference (too similar)My first computer was a Compaq, it was fine, except for the fact that it had Windows ME installed, now i'm happy that my cousin spilled water over it (otherwise i'd keep ME on it, and be using crap), then I had a DELL with Windows 2k, and it worked without a problem, until the operating system started having problems, then I had 98 installed and it worked without a problem, the computer still works fine to this day, and now I use it to test client's hard drives, then I got a Vaio, worst computer I ever got, it runs better as a Mac than it does a PC (I have OS x86 on it), then I got a DELL laptop and never had any problems, I seem to have good luck with DELL's, so I stick with themThe only problem I have ever had with DELL was tech support, which I only needed to call once, and they never fixed my problem, but instead tried looking for ways to charge me, I fixed the problem myself though and never had a problem again
