I mean, everything was going well until Sonic Heroes came out.And that game's a trainwreck. (I keep a copy around for nostalgic reasons, though- I rarely play it because there are so many clitches.)But seriously, what do you think?

I remember reading somewhere there was a Sonic RPG game for the DS that was going to be made by Bioware. Bioware's done pretty good, and I doubt they'll be able to mess up too badly. But then I could be pulling this from my backside.

Hardly, have you been keeping up with the news? The sonic franchise may have so many trashy games, but it's far from dead. In fact, sega has reaped the sales of a totally un sonicy game "shadow the hedgehog" which made more than enough expected sales... or in other words, it sold decently. And speaking of better games, the handheld sonic rush games on the DS (but not sonic rivals which was really crappy, I know, I finished it) was a spectacular ride with good music, crisp visuals and all that running, rolling, gliding and boss fighting. Heck, even sega allowed their mascot to join up with nintendo's mascot in the overly hyped mario and sonic in the olympics and the totally unbelievably hyped "super smash bros brawl" (which also starred konami's metal gear solid hero: solid snake). If you think about it, sega might surprise with their own console in the future so never expect sonic and everyone else in the sonic team universe (nights, burning rangers, phantasy star) to just disappear after a multitude of bad games, bad consoles and bad ideas (thank you angry video game nerd and screwattack.com for those insight).

i think the games have lost a lot of their original awesomeness lol they're not like they used to be, after sonic heroes, to me, it kinda just went downhill. they seem to be making a good amount of profits, but it's not the same

I still think it can make a comeback. I know recent games haven't been great, but it only takes one to turn a franchise around. You never know.

Sonic games are doing good on the handhelds. Can't say the same for consoles, but I think Sonic and the Secret Rings is a comeback. Although, considering how long it's been, I don't think certain Sonic voice actors are coming back. Truly sad.

Bioware's been bought out, not to say that it will make the game bad, but it will probably be different that it would have been originally.Sonic games has sucked since Sonic Adventure 2.I think when Sonic Team realizes that they should do what they have done in the past, and not some gimmicky game we will see good Sonic games again.

I don't think it's dead, but it's definitely not as good as it used to be. They just keep adding more and more characters, it gets annoying after a while.

I do believe that the series is getting pretty thin and I'm not sure how Sonic RPG is going to rock that bout yet.

Yes...it is. And now the sonic franchise is leeching off of Mario!

The Sonic series has been dead for awhile. I miss the good old days with the side scrolling levels and cheesy boss battles.
