the DS has two parts, so its naturally more vulnerable than a PSP. It also depends how bad the drop was for each one. My DS fell out the car and it survived fine XD

I Think any electronic device should be treated as fragile I don't plan on dropping my DS but I have and it still works. I have also dropped my PSP and it also still works. As far as your question is it too fragile no it has survived bing dropped. I also bought the plastic skin that raps around the ds for any future mishaps.

I recently dropped my DS Lite on my kitchen floor by accident and it still works fine. Even the GBA cartridge I had in it wasn't damaged. :biggrin2:

My DS Phat is a TANK. My little sister dropped it in the bath tub, I come an hour later I see it in there at the bottom of the tub, I take it out, take out the battery, let it dry in the sun for an hour or two and it was fine...

The touch screen is rather scratch-prone, but for the most part I don't find it more or less fragile than any other handheld electronic.

I think the old ds is fine, i've dropped mine multiple times yet it hasn't broken, hopefully I didn't jinx it. =). Although I must say that the ds lite, is a bit flawed, I think that because it's lose the thicker coating of the old ds it can't be as protected.

Well, I have older style DS, I dropped it about 3 times and it still works very perfectly. But my cousin have a DS Lite and one time he dropped it and it got broken so he had to buy an another one.I think older style DS is more stronger than Lite DS.

I left it in my bag, and we had a water party and my bag got soaked. When my DS came out it was wet, so I dried it and set it in the sun for 2 hours and it came out fine..

The problem is, though, nobody else realizes the truth but we do.

ok someone needs a history lesson...the Nintendo handheld systems are made out of NINTENDIA! They take tons and tons of abuse!! I give you the gameboy pocket! A soldier took it with him to the Gulf War in the 90's and got it pretty smashed up. If I recall correctly, this very item could still play games and was on display at Nintendo World in Times Square. There is also a picture online of someone playing their game on a white DS that has clearly been bitten into by a dog. The point is, Nintendo builds their stuff to take abuse, Sony does not. Sony makes nice fancy products that have lots of wow, but they are kinda fragile. There was a segment on what console (between an XBOX, a PS2, and a Gamecube) could survive a drop from a couple hundred feet; the winner? The Gamecube of course!

haha. yeah, my Nintendo handhelds have held up well. like, ages ago I had the GBC, and it once slipped out of my hand, in a parking lot, and not just hit the ground but bounced a few times, hard. and it still worked fine. my old-school DS still works great too. Only reason I still want to now by the DS Lite is for the brighter screen. my old-man eyes ain't what they used to be, so a brighter screen might strain 'em less.

i don't think so1. It got thrown flat across the room and collided with the window which was approxiamately 5 feet(window got a few scratces)result:the front part of the DS(when it's face up on a table) dented slightly2.fell 4 feet to the floorand it's still operating-_-

I don't know who you were referring this to, but we already know that. We were just talking about how the regular DS takes up more abuse than DS Lite does. And besides, apparantly some of us already know that Nintendo makes things that can take lots of abuse, but this topic is basically about up to what extent is the DS they made can go in terms of being fragile or not.

Mine's never had any serious knocks or anything, but if it happened to be left open on a seat and someone sat on it, I reckon the hindges for the top screen would snap off.

I havn't had a problem with its durability. Its a Nintendo Product which through my experiences are like rocks. Though my first DS had a hardware issue my newest one after several falls and being stepped on, etc. It hasn't had a single issue. I've never opened it up so i dont know how fragile the hardware is inside but the outside is pretty strong for my uses.

It's way more durable than the PSP. I haven't had a personal experience but my friend's PSP broke rather easily I hear.

My DS fell into my dog's water bowl once. I unscrewed the works, and carefully let it dry. Considering that it's still running a year from then, and i'd say that i'm quite happy with the DS' durability.
