With few exceptions, each installment in the Final Fantasy series adds something new or different to the often tried-and-true RPG formula. There are other similar series that do the same, such as the Tales series or Shin Megami Tensei.What sets Final Fantasy apart is the fact that each game has a very distinctive musical score that seems to fit the setting and mood of the game world. For example, compare the difference of soundtracks between FFVII and FFXII. The art styles also very per game, and I can honestly say that no FF game looks alike (that hasn't been made a direct sequel). The same rule applies for the classics. This is an interesting point to take into consideration as there are also elements that appear in each game, like moogles/chocobos or even Cid. I think these elements combine into a very enjoyable formula, and I'll keep buying original games and remakes 'till the world ends or I die, whichever comes first.

Because they always have a good story and wicked features like new stuff each game and i reckon they had the best ever made rpg which was....(drum roll lol) FINAL FANTASY 7i suggest if you havnt played that play it cause it is the BEST!

They build a wide fan base. Check out the retrospective on gametrailers for the full history, its pretty cool to watch. They also explain the reason for the popularity a bit. Have fun!

I think the reason I play them is because I got addicted to the games via the graphics of the ps2. Ever since then, even on the gameboy where the graphics aren't as great, I play them because I've grown to love the format and the story lines.

My reason is that I just like RPG game and final fantasy game are just one of the coolest RPG game I've ever known. It all depend of the person rather or not they like final fantasy.

The FF series definitely have excellent plots, and recent ones have nice battle systems (different from the turn-based style)Also, FF13 has awesome graphics

thats selling the series very short. its the continued consistency of quality games over the past 20 yrs. the first game almost didnt even come out and now its basically the most popular rpg console series. praise FFis just because of the cool graphics and good story it's so popular , but i don't like the fighting still

for me its the story got hooked on FFVII and i've never looked back. FFIX was my only disappointment.
