They just all have great storylines and in somecases really great characters.

the final fantasy games are good because the story is a good one characters have some connection to the final boss like revenge and other such

I think its because they are made so well. If you check out a lot of other rpg's they seem cool but whether there are too many random encounters or the characters are crappy, it isn't up to par. I think people know how good the ff games are and know that the games will stay that good or get better if nothing else. But the story and characters are pretty cool.

Because everything. Story, Gameplay, characters, music. Even when the original crew of the first games are no longer with Square-Enix, they keep the expectations and the tradition of Final Fantasy

I like their story lines and also the whole rpg gameplay. Also they usually have the best graphics of the time

I like them because their graphics, music, storyline and characters seem to be a lot better than most other RPGs i have played.

For myself personally, I like the feeling of have impact in a story or playing a role in saving the world. And it doesn't hurt that the story in Final Fantasy games are top notch and the battle system is fun.

It's possibly because people enjoy "living" through a fantasy world and all FF titles deliver that in a fun, beautiful way.

I wouldn't say that Final Fantasy games are popular. Reason I say that is because about 10% of my ENTIRE school has not even heard of Final Fantasy, let alone played it. I play Final Fantasy games, because they're the kinda games you can lie down on your bed and and enjoy the wonderful music, great story, and have a crack at it's puzzles and dungeouns.

heavily story based rpgs are a fun way to kill a lot of time. its like controlling what happens in a book... only better then a pick your adventure book...

Actually no, that's everyone else. The Japanese buy anything with "dragon quest" on it.Used to be because they had the best story/characters. Now, it's mostly because they're pretty. And because the Japanese will buy anything with 'Final Fantasy' on it.

They used to be awesome because of the gameplay and the systems. Now, they are only popular because they are very emo like and strike a strong chord with younger kids.

I really like the games b/c of there class system but once they got premade characters it was more for the story. I loved final fantasy games ever since i played VIII on the PSX. I really like there turnbased system, I do hate the save points though. Anyway FFXII kinda ruined FF for me, didn't really like the new combat system didn't seem like a FF game to me. All it is is the regular TB but you can move around, big whoop.

They are popular because they are good. Good graphics, good gameplay but moreover the story is always interesting, the characters have a great personality (not only main characters but also the villains). These make you want to see what will happen next, what will say the villain or who the hell is that new guy that has just appeared.
