The Fawn and Cage of Stars are quite nice. But for a laugh, there's nothing better than Artemis Fowl (Not the 4th book) or Sea Legs.

I really like The Picture of Dorian Gray by Oscar Wilde (I love anything by him), A Clockwork Orange by Anthony Burgess, The His Dark Materials Trilogy by Phillip Pullman, The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy by Douglas Adams, and I really like The Salmon of Doubt, also by Douglas Adams. I used to be a huge fan of the Redwall series by Brian Jacques. It's not as good as any of the other books, but I like Tithe by Holly Black as well.

My favourite books are Lord of the Rings, but my favourite book, that's not a series, would probably be Go Ask Alice. Or anything written by Francesca Lia Block, she is an AMAZING writer :)

The entire Hitchhiker's Guide trilogy is my favorite, followed by the Bartimaeus trilogy. I also like The Things They Carried and In Cold Blood. The Things They Carried is just amazing writing, and I like how it's really a bunch of different stories gathered from various magazines (including those published in gentleman's magazines).

'Mysteries' by Knut Hamsun sits comfortably at the top of my list, closely followed by Woody Guthrie's autobiography: 'Bound for Glory'. The former is utterly captivating and superbly written while the latter is simply the fascinating tale of a fascinating man.

Pride and Prejudice!! Jane Eyre too

I love those books too! Especially Pride and Prejudice, I read it 2 or 3 times and saw the recent movie too.In the rare case that anyone can read Chinese, the classic "Dream of Red Chamber" is definitely the best novel written in the Chinese languate ever.

Seriously? I hated that book, It was so predictable. As for Chinese classics, I prefer the Journey to the west and Water woods (that's the best that I can manage to translate it).

Jane Austin's cynical wit FTW. Anyway, Crime and Punishment was a great read. I regret not giving it more time (I read it over a weekend), bu it was a very rewarding piece. The introspective/psychological focus of the book creates vivid, detailed portraits of characters as well as the criminal mind. Also, Areas of My Expertise is good for shits and giggles.

One Flew Over the Cuckoo's Nest.I had a hard time gettting into the book at first, mostly due to big city preconceptions about rednecks and a strong distaste for funky speech patterns. Once I started to like the characters and get into the scope of the novel, however, I couldn't put it down. It has a bittersweet ending that still manages a feeling of triumph, although readings vary extremely from person to person.
