Poll: Xbox 360 Achievements (35 member(s) have cast votes)

Are they just a waste of time? A gimmick?

What should we get as a reward?

I've been addicted to unlocking achievements ever since I first played my Xbox360. This has gotten to the point where I'd rather play a 360 game over any other system's games just because of the achievements, or atleast this is what I think is happening. I have a Wii, and during the past week, I had my friend's PS3, and I could hardly play the Wii, let alone touch the PS3 because of the 360. I know that 360 has way more good games at this point in time, compared to the Wii, but I still have a few Wii games that I think are very awesome, such as RE4, SSBB, Metroid Prime 3, and well...ya >_>".Anyway, my point is, does anyone else feel that they'd rather play 360 games because of the achievements, or that achievements simply make 360 games last longer and become more fun? I think they're a great way to waste time, and offer no real reward (fix this, MS, you cheap b%@*#$), but they're oh so addicting, and make me feel like I've never really beaten a game until I've gotten all of them.As for the rewards, I think we should get something for getting certain achievements, or even a certain amount of achievement points.

Achievements are so nice. The message pops up and you're all like, OMG NO WAI!!! Achievements are also what give the 360 an edge in the console war. Other systems don't have it.

LOL. Some achievements that you can obtain online are pretty pointless. Especially when there are those n00bs who call up a friend to kill him over and over.

i don't get too much time to play my 360, but i do try and get acheivements without the internet (i don't look under the game in my dashboard either) so i do stuff the i think is achievement worthy and sometimes i get it sometimes i don't

I'm not too fused but a friend of mine is a self confesed 'whore' and reguarly writes guides to help other max out games... well apart from Avatar that's the quickest 1000 GP ever just two minuites of tapping B.

i think the whole achievement thing adds to tha satisfaction of the game, when you play a game there is satisfaction at the end of the game, but none throughout, so it gives a bit of satisfaction when there would ordinarily be none. and when you unlock a secret achievement it just makes you feel so good about yourself. and when your friends see that you have a score of 4550 as opposed to their 2700 it gives you such a great sense of pride (even though you know people have way higher scores)

they arent necessary to achieve, but always something to try to get. Nothing wrong making an achievement.

I think they are a great idea. For most games it gives you a challenge to do. Like Guitar hero 3 for instance, trying to get a 1000 noter streak was hard... and very rewarding in the end. I felt so pro.

I totally agree with your statement. Gears of War would be so unrewarding without achievments... and my gamer score is 9525 =D

lets just put things this way. if they were pointless they wouldnt be there at all, game makers wouldnt waste any time and money putting pointless things in a game.

Achievements are ok, but sometimes they're hard to get (which is fun).In sports games, however, like NBA Live 06, they only give you GSPoints for pointless things. I think there should be certain scores, like 30G for making Kobe Bryant score 60+ in a game or having Michael Finley sink six threes in a game.
