The subject of a guy playing as a girl or vice versa is entirely irrelevant to anything. There is absolutely no reason to care in the slightest.

Well, I sometimes play as a girl if I know there's a difference but if there really isn't then I'll stick with the guy. Unless I'm bored. Then... maybe.

Type/Class first and then I'll pick the most appealing character model. This is mainly for MMORPGs and such.Fighters are a different game altogether.Really need to give all the characters a run through before deciding and even then sticking with just one is not ideal. As for the issue of guys pretending to be girls while playing as a female character?I don't see any harm with it. Who are we to impose our own morals onto others?

I agree with the OP. if there are stats involved , I prefer AGI over STR so then I'm going to pick a female char. however, if male/female are just as good (WoW) then I normally just go for the guy, and be something STR based like a warrior, because then the bulkyness (is that even a word :)) will make him look stronger and what not:p so to sum things up. do I care wether I or other dudes play as chicks? HELL NO. it's called a ROLEPLAYING game for a reason, so if someone wants to roleplay a chick, then that's for them to decide, and no one else :D

Well, if being a female has some part in your skills and stuff then yes I would see why. Otherwise I would question those players. lol

Well, I usually play as a girl 'cause they usually have stats that I prefer like speed, evasiveness and stuff. Sometimes its just cause their equipment is better.

I think it really depends on the type of game you're playing. If it's a console game, do whatever you want; no questions about it.In online games, it's a bit of a blurred line. If it's for statistical or aesthetic differences (say you don't like the male avatar base or something), then sure, why not. If it's to scam gullible male players, then it's definitely a bad thing. >.oBut hey, it's a right. If they want to make themselves complete jerks by aggresively flirting of dateless guys, then more power to them. :)

People often talk about this subject, but never give a clear opinion. Here is where to clear your thoughts on it. I for one, really don't care if guys play as female characters. To be honest, I do it quite often. here are a few reasons. In most games, like Fighters or RPG's, the female characters are so much better than the male characters it's crazy. My style of gaming tends to go towards teh faster, more nimble characters. Most female characters are just that, while I dislike the slow, bulky style of most of the male characters. And to be honest, if you were playing an MMO, and are a guy, would you rather look at the back of some burly bulky dude for the next million hours of your life, or a chick? Be honest, most MMO players waste hours upon hours playing this game. Why not at least use a character that's easy on the eyes?

I completely agree about the Eye Candy aspect of your argument. I like to play a fem char. It is so funny when i get hit on by morons....

some people like the eye-candy (as most designers make the women disproportionately attractive), and some like the dialog voice...other want to identify with the female persona...which they have every right to if they want that. so...i dont see where there is a problem? i mean, if you are immature you could make fun of them, but im too old to think ostracizing people is enjoyable.

i dont mind other guys playing a girl character, just bothers me when they try to act like a girl :/. and if you're playing a girl character cause its "easier on the eyes" you might want to get out more often >_>

i don't mind playing with girls. girl characters are weaker than boy characters, but they're faster or have more mp, so both have their own 'power'

Usually the only time I play with girl characters are in Fighting games. Street fighter would be chun-li or makoto it's just the way I have always been...I can't really explain it much more than that.

It's pretty fun to mess with people on MMO's, so I play a girl or two occasionally when I can't find anything better to do. Normally though, I play as guys if I don;t have to be staring at them exclusively for ages.

People think just because you play an MMO you need to play your own gender clearly never plays MMO's or takes it to seriously, this isn't role playing, it's a game.I understand fighting games isn't a big deal and stuff or games where the main character is a girl you can't really go around it. I see it the say way as that. Some people try picking up girls in games, bad idea. So honestly I don't see whats the problem, you're not suppose to be flirting, you're suppose to be playing.I play an MMO and I have the a few female and male characters, and I don't pretend I'm a girl nor do I dress them like hookers I just play.

A lot of people sadly take MMOs and place themselves into that character's role. For one reason or another their real lives aren't satisfying enough so they pour themselves into a game. Then that'd cross into addiction and whatnot. For others they never had much of a social life or interaction with people outside their homes so the only way for them to feel like they have friends is through an online game. It's sad, 'cause most of them also wind up in depression after having a distorted view on reality. I personally don't like MMOs, but I can see how people pretending to be someone they're not is just part of a bigger issue. One can only hope they don't take it too far.

i usually pick female cause in most games back then in snes, game boy, and playstation they are so sexist, most of the time they make guys the main character! so i think its quite unique to use a gurl instead of a guy for a change.

this is a major problem in mmorpg guys playing as girls just to try and act as if they are weak in a game to get free things such as armor and weapons and the like

Hmm... I mostly pick a girl for MMORPG. I really like the Magic class and suff, it suits girl better than most of the playable guys, and I always tell that I'm a boy, so that those "weird" situations would happen ^-^' . In some fighting game I also use girls. Female character tend to be more agile , while the male character mostly always gets the Powerful part. So, when I get to have a party in the RPGs I always keep a balance.
