Ummm, no that's not why anyone hates it. Anyone who calls themselves a gamer (everyone on this website) would obviously know how to hold it. Just face it, the controller was designed awkwardly. Hold it in your hand and then look down. You hold the middle with your left hand and the right with your right hand. That left piece is completely unnecessary and simply a waste. Honestly, it's not a bad controller. It functions well. It is, however, designed quite poorly and awkwardly. I had a MadCatz controller for my N64 at one point, and it was designed more like a Playstation controller. I found that was much better for gaming.i think all the hate about the N64 controller is because they dont know how to hold it,Nintendo though the analog stick wouldn't stand through the test of time. The middle stick is also a handle, like the ones at the sides.im going to number the handles from < to > 1, 2, and 3.Ok, say you want to use the d-pad, you hold handles 1 and 3, if you want to use the analog stick, hold handles 2 and 3, its simple.
