Actually, I use GIMP even though I have Photoshop. I don't believe one being a 'poor rip-off' because I think GIMP is easier to use.

With the correct knowledge photoshop can be just as easy as GIMP because PS has MANY more features. If you take the time to do some tutorials on how to use it then you'll be fine. Plus you can get PS CS2 for free.So PS all the way.

I actually use Paint.NET. Can it compare to Photoshop or GIMP? No. Is it useful for making my own desktop backgrounds and signatures? Yes (even though I haven't made one for DGEmu yet). Plus, it's legally free and open-source, so there's people improving it constantly. Now to be laughed out of the topic..

Photoshop has more features, but if you're not willing to pay cash for it, try GIMP. Personally, I prefer Photoshop, though.

I use both, I prefer GIMP though, because first off it's free, but mainly because of the ease of use, the grat effects you can do that you can't do in photoshop by changing all sorts of settings. I also like the way you can change the angles easlily too.

The poll and the first post say different things....I voted for Gimp - because the poll said - which one do you USE. The first post, however, says - which one do you LIKE best. I LIKE Photoshop best, but I can't afford it and refuse to risk my computer yet again by 'not paying' for it. Gimp is FREE, and most importantly, SAFE, and it does everything I need. So unless someone hands me a disk with a Photoshop I can use... I'm sticking with what works. ^_~

Is the cat in the box alive or dead?

If you open the box, you will know the answer.

You will know the truth.

However, until you open the box, you can claim that the cat is alive, and you can also claim it is dead.

Well I would choose photoshop. Simply because I have never used or heard of GIMP before. So yeah, it's not really a balanced decision but there you go.

Of the two, I prefer Photoshop. On the laptop I have right now, I'm only using Paint.NET.

I prefer Photoshop! I used GIMP for awhile, but I just found it kind of annoying to use, and it seemed a lot slower than Photoshop did. I also felt it didn't have all the tools I liked in Photoshop, which was really annoying. I don't think it has tablet sensitivity either, if I'm remembering correctly.

I like Gimp and Photo Shop especially since I have both of the latest versions and my Photo Shop is the portable cs4 version so its free and will work on any computer.
