I always loved 2 and 3. It's been over a decade since I've played 2, so who knows if it'd still hold the same appeal for me now that it did then, but I loved it because it was one of few games I could beat all on my own, no Game Genie help, as a little kid. But Mario 3, I loved because it was SO complex! My dad could beat it with no help from the Game Genie, but I always needed the assistance. X-D

I personally have always loved 2, just because i love playing as Toad :]Other than that, 3 does have better graphics.

Personally (along with many others) I believe SMB3 to be the best. It's one of the best mario games ever made, and I actually find it to be better than Super Mario World, which alot of people would disagree...

I have played 3 the most, so it brings me the most nostalgia. Therefore, it's my favourite. :biggrin2:

Technically speaking, SMB3 is the best game... but for personal preference, I just give the slight edge to SMB2. I happen to like the variety of the characters, something that (aside from the tweaks to Luigi in Japan's SMB2/The Lost Levels) hasn't been duplicated very much in the subsequent 2D platformers.

i've always been a fan of SM2. It is weird, they should take more strange games and make them mario. i really like the dream world aspect, they should revisit that.

SMB3. Great level design, a lot of power-ups, it's just fantastic. One of the best Mario games.

My favourite is Super Mario Bros. 3 !! There's just so much to do and see and I like better how it looks as opposed to the first one. I love the Tanuki! But all are great fun! :foldarms:

Come on, Mario 3 was revolutionary for the NES :DIn many ways, it's still one of the greatest games ever made and certainly the most advanced for the NES. I also find it one of the hardest Mario games of all, even if the levels are surprisingly short when I popped this gem in and played it for the first time in 15 years.

Definitely SMB 3. It was the first NES game i ever beat, and it has established the standard mario formula for the later games.

I absolutely love Mario 3. The reasons why is because the levels and stages had to be long and involved. Also for an 8-bit game, the graphics were A+, and the soundtrack is memorable. The enemies also were evolved from the Goombas, Koopas, and cheep-cheeps.
