There is a rumor that a blu-ray compatible x-box 360 console will be released either fall 2008 or fall 2009. Does anybody know anything about this?

Is it an add on or a completely new console? It's going to be very annoying to have to buy another 360 after just buying the elite

there wont be a blu-ray xbox 360. Sony owns blu-ray and Microsoft has HD DVD. why would Microsoft want both on their xbox?

I doubt they'd make a separate console for it, but they might release it like they did with the HD-DVD player. Microsoft is even going to stop selling those players soon because the HD-DVD lost the format wars to Blu Ray. Because of this, there is a good chance Microsoft will use Blu Ray in the near future.

i think it will be an add on. if they could make a Blu Ray console then they could have made a HD-DVD console (rather than an add on).any way they would have to do it, seeing as the HD-DVD is considered dead by many. if they don't then it will be another reason to buy a PS3.AsrarQ

I dont think it will hapen, although it would definitly be sweet if it did. Even better if it was just an add on to the curent 360s and not just a whole new system

Yes... you go ahead and be loyal to technology that was phased out.HD-DVD is done.. the big shots shut it down, and blu ray is all thats left. For the record.. blue-gay is crap. you go ahead and pay 10 dollars extra on an already expensive DVD, I'm just fine with regular format. So yeah... 200+ Blue ray player and 35 dollar movies on release.. fat chance.. staple my balls to the wall. that would hurt less then it will to my wallet to pay for this useless crap.

from what i know Sony and MS are still working stuff out, it would be awsome if a bluray drive for the 360 was released, i didn't want to buy a ps3 just for the bluray movies :)... keep B)[ ]

Latest rumor : http://www.maxconsol...ws&newsid=27376But I seriously doubt it because of this news http://www.maxconsol...ws&newsid=26726Unless yes, there will be no addon cause we are gonna make a better 360 with blu-ray. Then the prior rumor will be true. But given M$'s stubborness till its too late mentality, it maybe false.

http://www.maxconsol...ws&newsid=27424Pretty much just squashes the whole idea. Hope they don't sue.

Wow, I didn't expect that from Microsoft. I guess they're not like Sony who want the PlayStation to be known as an "entertainment center" rather than a video game console.

Time has proven you wrong, although even when you wrote it you were still wrong. HDDVD was a dead technology from the start. I saw it coming. But you can go ahead and remain loyal to the dead technology that is HDDVD

Yes... you go ahead and be loyal to technology that was phased out.HD-DVD is done.. the big shots shut it down, and blu ray is all thats left.

You have obviously never seen High def technology in you life. Your regular format works at 480p, while high def is more than double that at 1080p. For those of you who have no clue what that means, allow me to explain briefly. The T.V. screens are broken up into grids. The little boxes are called pixels. the number 480p means that there are 720 vertical lines and 480 horizontal ones making up this grid. 1080p has 1920 vertical lines and 1080 hoizontal ones making up the grid. More lines equals smaller pixels, which means more detail and therefore sharper pictures, for an overall better television experience.

i wouldn't doubt it right now because of the elimination of HD DVD. otherwise they'll have to give up that market, which should grow over the years

I like the idea of better quality pictures, and I am looking forward to being able to play bluray on my 360, but for now my wallet can't handle it so I'm fine watching standard dvds a little longer.

Well it sounds possible. However I think it will be too over priced I mean just look at the cost of blue ray movies compared to DVD movies.
