N64 controller was awesome for some games, but when you played any FPS games.... My god it was annoying as hell...I know Duke Nukem wasn't the greatest FPS in the world but the controller made it annoying to play... Star Fox owned with it though XD

Way back when the N64 first came out it just blew everthing else out of the water, and that controller was and still is one of the best ever made.

the N64 controller was great. it fit naturally in my hand. i could play for hours and my hands still wouldnt get sore. the one downside was the lack of built in rumble. although you could get a rumble pack (i had one that was a rumble pack and memory card)

I thought it was cool looking, but hard to use. It just didn't conform to hands comfortably, and I remember my left hand would always end up aching.

Well, the N64 controllers is kinda ugly, but it have comfortable controls for joystick. But Sometime using Up, down, right, and left pad or joystick is kinda comfusing when you are switching games out and back fourth.

I think the design of the controller layout is terrible, it is too hard to maneuever your hands around the long sides to get to the button you wont ROFL

The N64 controlers are awfull if you look at them now but if you compare them with what there was before then it is a huge upgrade.

THey definitely fit well into the hands and the button configuration worked well, but the only bad part was that the joystick wore down and now all the controllers are unuseable.

it was an amazing controller, however there wasnt really much need for the d-pad and L button.however my main quarrel with the controller is how after a certain ammount of play time the joystick became absoloutly knackered out and would barely respondalso the right c button was quite hard to reach if i remeber correctly

The N64 controller is the best to deform your hand. Seriously!

It definitely looked weird, and was kinda strange, but it handled perfectly, partially because no one was stupid enough to make a game that tried to use the analog stick with the L-button or the D-pad. When you think about it though, the N64 controller might have saved the D-Pad. It's use of both lead to Sony answering with the Dualshock, instead of just using analog only for the PS2, and then on the Xbox and GC, the D-pad survived as a side-button. It probably still would've been used on handhelds, but I dunno about console controllers.

64 had the best controller at the time, though i believe that the Gamecube one is a bit more comfortable for third person games. Also, i never was able to hold the middle part with my left hand, so some games which couldn't switch sides were a bit difficult to play. :P

Personally I loved the N64 controller. The GC controller was cool to. The current XBox 360 controller reminds me alot of the GC controller.

I absolutely loathe the N64 controller. It's an uncomfortable massive hunk of crap with an impossible joystick and a horrible d pad.
