#1 is very nice. I think you should develop a focal point by lightening and darkening areas.

Edited for the newer versions.Personally, I think the V1 is still the best, but It's not for me.

Do the dark parts differently, not just a black soft brush! Create depth with a curves and levels layer, and erase as necessary. v6 with depth would be t3h uber.
