Dsi is comming out so, new generation of ds games is going to appear, granted. Flux of new games = nintendo ds lifespan will be greater... more than it is now! I donīt know about you guys, but i donīt have any reason to get another platform as long ds is around.

the ds still has a tonne of life in it, maybe the equivalent of a cat's nine lives. i mean the psp has pretty much died well from where im from anyway, and the ds launched before it. if nintendo continues to synch the ds with the wii, there is gonna be whole lotta life out of both consoles. its the cheapest game console (except for an n64 deal at my local EB :)), its more functionable than any other console, followed by its tv counterpart, and portable. there is no way its gonna die any year soon.

I also agree with the other "posters" here. I don't think that the DS will die anytime soon, but I do think that the original DS will die out because the DS lite is a WAAYYY more improved version. It's slimmer, you can change your light settings, the sylus is longer and more comfortable, and it looks sexier (:. The DS is also (so far) the only touch screen hand-held console I have seen. It will almost never die.

I don't think the DS is going to die anytime soon, even if they make new versions of the DS. I don't think its worth spending another 100 dollars for some tiny upgrades.

the normal ds might die because they are theinking about making a (i think this is the name im not sure) DSI which will have a built in camera so u can take a picture of u as the background(best thing is u can distort the picture as much as u want^^

no way i think the DS definatly has a lot more life in it. last year in november in Japan they just released a new upgraded DS called the DSi which looks awesome and i can't wait to get it. so with the new DSi comeing out i think the DS has a lot more fuel in the tank

Hm, what I really didn't like about the DSi was that there is no longer a GBA slot. I thought backwards compatibility to be very very cool!

The DS isn't going anywhere. Only when a new and improved system similar to the DS comes out there might be a problem. For the record, the DSi is a DS, so I don't know why everybody's saying the DS will die when the DSi comes out... :D The thing is, there are no other gaming systems that utilize a touch screen like the DS does. Same goes for the Wii. That is why these systems will never be outdated, because there probably isn't going to be another type of touch screen handheld or whatever. It will always be unique and different, so for that reason, the DS will never die. It may be less popular, but chances are, nothing will outclass it. Regarding previous systems; most are built to surpass the previous generations. How do they do that? Better graphics, more powerful console, etc. The only way for the DS to be surpassed is if they build on it and maybe create a more powerful system with better graphics and perhaps two touch screens.

It will never die aslong as people use the R4

I'd have to disagree with that.I think that's what gonna lead to the death of the DS.I'm not saying i hate the R4, in fact i love it, but it will be less profit for the game makers.Nintendo will probably end up making something similar to the DS but with more advanced features and the inability to use a R4.But thats just my 2 cents.

There will always be a way around Nintendo's anti-piracy adaptions. Maybe the old flashcarts won't work, but new ones will be developed to take the place of, say, an R4. It's inevitable.

Yea but they're still making profit from the sale of the new version of the DS.

no idont think that ds will die if it did they would have decreased the ds game productions by at least half.also they r still coming up with new designs for the ds still so im thinking they r trying to create a wider variety for the customers to keep everyone happy
