I doubt its dying anytime soon if they do smart upgrades because its already able to go beyond PSX in graphics soon they'll have it rivaling the PS2

I think DSi needs a video player, to play media files from the SD chip! That can be easily be created & downloaded like the new web browser... need something to complete with PSPDie, not for a long while! Unless Nintendo comes up with much better way to 'earn' money out of your pocket! DSi just got released! Give it at least a couple of years before their CEO say: 'What's next?!'

Any gaming console is bound to die out due to new machines that are being introduced. We can't stop it from getting outphased. That's why we have emulators, of which are free. So we don't spend money on something that's going to get kicked off the market in a year.

My question is, why does it matter if it dies? The death of one video game system has always been followed by the release of an even better system. Yes, I'm sure everyone will miss the nostalgia of playing on the DS but it's similar to what happened with the game boy. I for one own 5 different Game Colours (all events), just for the nostalgia of it. Occasionally I'll even open the box on one and play some old gbc games. But as they say all good things must come to an end.

I kind of wish it would slowly die just so we can get a new handheld =DA SUPER AMAZING ONE...but it probably won't happen, but if it does, it'd be cool if it could still play ds games. =]

Possibly soon since the DSi has come out. This sort of thing happened with the Game Boy Color. I'm crossing my fingers and hoping it doesnt die though.

Nintendo will decide when the DS will die.But i don't think it will be next few years.Currently DS have built up a large library of games. It won't be wise to introduce another portable gaming machine so soon.Gameboy have at least up to 20 years before it was replaced slowly by DS.Along the way you can see many versions , upgrade of gameboy......(pocket gb, gb lite, GBC, GBA, GBA, GB micro, GBA SP)but not the main system. It will be the same old story for DS again. Look at the upgrade ....Original DS, DS lite, DSi,..... I think still at least have 3 more 'upgraded' DS to go. ;)

It will probally die out within 1-2 years after the next handheld comes out. but its hard to tell exactly when.

DS won't die until a true successor comes out (as opposed to a remake like DSi).

I think that nintedno will release a completely new handheld by the next run around (no more DS addons or slims or what not), at least to stay in competition with sony who are doing the same thing with PSPs the naxt time around in about two years I'd estimate

The DS will never die because there are way to many nintendo fanboys to let such a system die it might fade but thats not going to happen for a very long time.
