I think once they run out of ideas on improvements that they can make they will come out with a new handheld console. Hopefully they don't come out with a handheld that uses motion in any way because that would be stupid in my opinion.

It won't be dying anytime soon. The DS at the moment, is selling faster than most consoles, and unlike the Wiimote, a lot of the games that rely only on the touch screen are actually fun. The graphics are slowly getting better, and may compete woth consoles some day in those terms. LONG LIVE DS!!!!!!!!!

Hope DSL will be around for at least another 3 - 5 years. I really like the wide range of games available & the backward compatibility with GBA games.

Probably not for a while, it's essentially a continuation of the Gameboy, which has been going for ages.....besides, it's popular and has companies like Square actually making games for it consistently...unlike a certain home console I know with only about 10 decent games...

Not for a while unless they make DSi exclusive games which will be a ****** move (not DSiWare, as I'm aware of that). But since they just released DSi, the DS will be around for a while

It'll take a lot to kill the DS. Think of all the 'they aren't really games' titles it has. Sudoku, 100 books in 1, driving instructor. It's marketing to people who don't have an interest in a games console. The only thing I can see killing it is a new machine from Nintendo.

Just like the gameboy before it and the also the GBA it will end about a year or two into the life of the new handheld that will come out I would give it about 7 years because of the new DSi 5 years till the new handheld then 2 years till the DSi is no longer relevant.

i generally believe that selling consoles with different colors is a smart idea for marketing, it makes the product more appealing and fresher...i mean that grey ds isn't very appealing to me, plus it's my mom's and then my ds, so i'd pretty much think i'll buy one of those. the down side of the idea is that generally nintendo tends to wait a little too much before launching these "costumized" consoles...that results with little profit due to the fact that everyone has already that console and most of them think it's stupid to spend more money to buy the same different thing but only of a different color, i migh as well just paint it miself!!!!(don't try this at home). but it can attract people who didn' buy the console at first, but they might not buy as well since they now why they didn't buy it t first, cause they weren't interested. so i believe the best market strategy is getting really cool games caming out that will make people wanna buy the console(my mom bought it only for 2 games, brain trainig and professor laiton)in orde to play with them. so they have to be exclusives(no other consoles have the game...i must buy ds) and they don't have to be lame, or else rumours of the game isn't really worth it will kill the sales.

No way! The DS is awesome... As long as they keep doing fun games they'll always have buyers I'm shure. They just sell it in colours so people who actually care about that have more fun.

DS probably won't die out soon! The only reason a company cuts out a product is if they're making something totally new which they are about to release!
