After the DSi, I think we will have some Nintendo DS for a while. I think the new handheld system would get released somewhere in 2011

It sounds like a good presumption, but Nintendo was the company that said they weren't gonna develop a new console for a while after dropping the Wii. But what is is, 3 years later they take that back and are developing the Wii2 already? The golden Age is gone where we got to use the same systems for 10 years before the next gen came out. Now theres not enough time to get all th games and try them all equally and fairly.

ds will probably start dying slowly after the succesor of ds comes out. I heard bout a DS 2? but idk if its confirmed or just rumours but anyway when the time comes for dat succesor to be released denn people will stop using ds slowly but surely.

I think it's only a matter of time, but since it was possible to play the GBA games for so long after their release, I think even with a new console they will enable the DS games to be in use for quite a few more years.

It'll die when Nintendo comes out with 2 more handheld systems. I know a few people who still play GBA and they say they won't switch to DS until Nintendo concocts something better.

Well, since this post is old, the DS obviously lasted for quite a while. It should continue to last for a good while at least as long as they keep making decent games.

As of today, I consider the Ds to be pretty much still alive... it wont make it through the end of the year though. Layton game stil keeps selling.

I don't think DS will leave for less than five years. I mean, Nintendo has a bunch of updates like what they did to Gameboy...

the DS will die when Nintendo goes under, or quite possibly whenever Nintendo realises that they lost all of their hardcore fans, and the touch technology has boomed, but it doesnt bring in as much revenue as hardcore gaming platforms would have brought.
