Doesn't look like the DS will be dying anytime soon. Their still making new games with no signs of stopping.

DS probably wont die until the next big Nintendo hand-held comes out. Nintendo has always held the Hand-held market in their palms, mostly due to the lower game and console cost compared to their competitors. They most probably have another hand-held lined up for release and are just waiting for the DS to run its course, I mean haven't you ever heard about the gameboy? It lasted a real long time and by the time gameboy pocket came out in japan, they had already finished the gameboy color, and if thats not surprising enough, the gameboy advance was already being stored in warehouses the day gameboy color was released, same holds true for the SP, all these were created well before their predecessors had run their full course, all were finished products almost before the release of the previous system . They have beaten better hand-held console with their cheaper console, consoles like Sega hand-held and the Atari Lynx were simply too expensive and used too many batteries but you could play them in the dark and they had color to them -compared to the original gameboy it seems they would win but they didn't. Sony could have maybe kept up with Nintendo if they had made a cheaper console instead of one that does so much, and is so advanced. It still does little for what it costs, screen truly is too small for movies, not many good games and the need of a SD card, which were actually kinda expensive on their own made for "good" competition for Nintendo, and when I say "good", i mean good for Nintendo because they had practically the whole market for another console generation. All I used my PSP for was playing SNES, NES, GB, and even some GBA emulators, that's right, old Nintendo games on a new Sony console.

I think the DS will not die... It will be used, but slowly progresively substitued. (Due to High Videoconsole prices)This will be in 4-5 years.

the DS won't die anytime soon. i'm sure the next handheld is in some stage of production, but unless it includes and improves upon the DS features the DS will still be widely used. so maybe in about 7-8 years.

The DS will last most likely 3-6 years. The next generation of Nintendo hand held will most likely come out in 1-3 years from now.

I do wonder how Nintendo do so well with their main selling point being innovation, when people usually complain that they don't want touch screen/ wii-mote based games. Not that i complain. I love the DS!

Some old forms of the DS may die but the generations will keep on going on or until a greater product such as the TS (triple screens) comes out

I remember in an old version of NP, he said the DS Lite won't be the last in the DS series.
