I dunno, Spike was pretty badass in Cowboy Bebop, and he only had a gunSilly question. There's no way a gun can come off as more badass than a sword. Come on, with a gun it's just BAM you're dead. No drama, usually not much gore or anything that would make you exclaim, "My! That's badass!"A sword on the other hand... You can do so much and be so creative with a sword. We've got the dramatic stab through the gut as the guy looks up at you, eyes watering, gasping for breath. Then you pull it out and it's all over. Blood everywhere. But the best and most badass part of a sword has got to be the slice. With a nice enough blade, you can make mincemeat out of anybody, and what's more gruesome than having your arm or leg, or even torso lopped right off?If you can remove somebody's torso from their legs by firing a gun at them, then maybe we'll talk.

Uh... I'm sure many people will agree with me on this one, but my perception of the best way to utilize a sword is slashing for the most part. Stabs are incredibly easy to parry and leave your entire body open, meaning if your thrust was deflected (or you miss), you're the one dead. And considering most sword fights last less than 5 seconds and 2-3 traded blows (a large number of duels ended with a single blow), you don't want to risk a stab. Once you miss, you're done for. The fights you see in movies are very fictional. Swordfights have never lasted that long. You know, there is a reason why katanas and other deadly swords are curved. They are designed to slash. And you're definitely off when you compared fighting with bayonets to fighting with swords. A musket is not a sword and cannot be wielded like one. The whole purpose of the bayonet was so you could attack while still aiming at your foe, meaning if you got surprised, you didn't need to lift your gun up and then slash. Bayonets were designed to stab.As a general rule of thumb, you want to slash at your opponent and constantly push him forward, even when defending, so you absorb the force and keep the momentum in your direction. Never, EVER stab, unless it's a sure thing you're going to hit him. I.e., he's unarmed or off balance or on the ground (unarmed). Bad idea in general.I dunno, Spike was pretty badass in Cowboy Bebop, and he only had a gun
Plenty of time for posing after you've shot them in the head. And if you hit someone with a high-powered rifle you'll blow off a chunk of their body! Also, real sword killing (not sword fighting, which is considerably more posh) tends to be stab stab stab. Most real swordsmen (i.e. those trained to use a sword to kill) would fight with short thrusts. Hence they attached bayonets to muskets and not meat cleavers
No finesse. [Exception being cavalry, for whom getting a sword stuck in someone would not be very good so slashing is a better option]Guess there's not much finesse in a real gunfight either, but meh
