Nope. As long as you give the Wii room to breathe (as in don't shove it in your book shelf or something like that), you should have no problems with that.

Friend's Wii had over heating problems but that was because he stuffed it in a cramped compartment underneath the TV. Bad air flow is never a good thing. :/

It's actually hotter in standby mode than when it's running because the fan keeps it cool. I know that if I leave my SD card in a few days and then take it back out it tends to be pretty hot. Other than that there aren't any problems.

The Wii doesn't overheat, as long as it's in a good place and not a tight compartment. The Xbox 360 on the other hand overheated in the beginning. You had to get a fan to fix that problem XD

This. When you keep your Wii in standby mode (when you have WiiConnect24 active) the fans don't run, but the Wii takes a bit of power to run. This causes the system to heat up some, and will get pretty hot if you leave it in standby mode for long periods of time. Otherwise, I had my Wii running for over a day once (I didn't know it was on >.>) and it felt rather cool. The fans do a great job of keeping the system from overheating when they are on.

Yeah no overheating problems, it can get warm though, but if you ever get worried there are 3rd party cooling devices that the wii sits on and they plug into via one of the usb ports, but you don't really need that ^^;; Not normally at least

My daughter knocked mine over and now the disc drive has problems, so I leave mine on its side. But I am always afraid it will overheat. Perhaps I should turn the standby feature off.
