There are games which publishers target towards girls, but if this is a reasonably intelligent female, and not just a little girl, she may not be all that impressed with those games "meant" for girls. Consider what sorts of things she likes in the first place to figure out what sort of games you should get consider for her, and if in doubt -- ask her yourself!That said, I think there are many games with a less gamer-oriented appeal which could be interesting. Animal Crossing, as mentioned, is a game Nintendo wants to appeal to gamers and non-gamers alike. Beyond that, there are games such as Nintendogs or Tetris which are easy to learn and can be enjoyed for however long one wants to play at any given time. If she's into fantasy stories, consider some sort of RPG, and if she likes cartoons you might try to find at least one of the games based on a show she likes.Remember: Females (be they girls, ladies, or women) are people too. And if that sounds sexist, it's only a reminder that their tastes are no more defined by their 21st chromosome pair than ours are. Girls can be just as into sports and FPS games as any boy, and do not have a natural inclination towards playing "Barbie" or "Hello Kitty" or other "girly" games just because of their gender.And this goes not only for you, but anybody considering getting a DS for a girl -- consider her as an individual, not just as a girl, when you try to think of what games she'll like.Since I'm getting a NDS for my girlfriend, do you think there are games more suitable for girls? wellllll, i think a better way to phrase this would be to introduce what kind of PERSON your girlfriend is, so we can judge what games she'd like based on who she is as opposed to what gender she is.Since I'm getting a NDS for my girlfriend, do you think there are games more suitable for girls? Any suggestion? Thank you folks

I agree with the posters that say brain games work. I'm a girl gamer and play all kinds of games but things like Puzzle Quest, Electroplankton, Pogo Island, Boulder Dash Rocks, Prism - Light the Way, and Professor Layton and the Curious Village are awesome.I'm going to try Soul Bubbles and Ninjatown next. =)(I also agree with the posters that are saying that *ANY* game is suitable for a girl gamer! Our place is anywhere we want to be. 
)

You should get her Animal Crossing without a doubt.My girl and I used to have fun with that game.Also Mario Kart is great.

try midnight club or need for speedcar-racing games are generaly favourable for girls as they see no fun in gore-gnash and violence type of gamessame for games with adult themes like gta or scarface

I agree that any game is suitable. It's not like any game is specifically for a gender. They may be leaning towards a male or female audiance, but that doesn't stop people from playing them.My personal preference is Harvest Moon, Pokemon and Otome games. Otome games are directed towards girls, as they are "Dating Sims for Girls". One that I'm playing is Princess Debut. But that game is mostly about dancing than hooking up with a hot anime guy. Well, sort of. You have a hot anime guy, but you dance with him then at the end of the game you jump into the future and see a photo of your wedding.

Pretty much all games are 'suitable' for girls, it's just that a lot of games aren't preferable to them. There are plenty of them on the DS, so you should be fine.As for other suggestions, DDR is a big one and it's on most consoles. I can also say that my sister loves Excite Truck, even though she's not a gamer and she doesn't care for many other games. For some reason, she just loves Excite Truck.
