please introduce me to this game you are talking aboutwell all valid points, but personally i prefer swordmasters.1) Better crit rating *don't believe me take josh as an assassin vs. Marisa a swordmaster into the link area make sure they're both lvl 40 and give them both killing edges or the crit sword that Marisa comes with.*2) You'll notice that swordmasters actually have a higher crit rating, about the same hp, better dodge rate, and hit harder. And they're usually on par with assassins on speed. It usually boils down to who gets the first hit. 3) They're also far more accurate with SOME weapons not all of them. 4) plus in my opinion its easier to get a swordmaster than it is an assassin. Since in the first american FE you had to wait till Jaffar or later to get an assassin and your swordmaster could easily be to lvl 40 by then.So i say Swordmasters ftw. Except there are certain units that just need to be assassins. A good example is Joshua from FESS he NEEDS to be an assassin. Since his stats learn more toward the thief end of the spectrum he's better suited as an assassin than as a swordmaster. He does less damage, is a little less accurate, speedy *not as fast as marisa*, and he has GOBs of hp *which he needs due to his smaller dodge rate*.

We are talking about the Fire Emblem games on the GBA.please introduce me to this game you are talking about
uhm... okay. but for point 1, shouldn't you be comparing Joshua as a swordmaster with Joshua as an assassin? or Marisa as swordmaster and Marisa as an assassin. Because, Joshua and Marisa have different stat bases and growths, which changes the results of who is better. Also, on point 4, if you didn't get Jaffar, then you aren't getting an assassin, because I believe you need Nino to talk to Jaffar in ch.26/27 to get the 26x/27x which is where the only Fell Contract is.well all valid points, but personally i prefer swordmasters.1) Better crit rating *don't believe me take josh as an assassin vs. Marisa a swordmaster into the link area make sure they're both lvl 40 and give them both killing edges or the crit sword that Marisa comes with.*2) You'll notice that swordmasters actually have a higher crit rating, about the same hp, better dodge rate, and hit harder. Even so, you can't rely on Silencer to always finish you enemy off... a Swordmaster has way more reliable in terms of tough spots. IMOAssassins, simply because there one hit KO helps a lot in a though spot.
