Assassins, because they always remind me of Tenchu. (Ayame, Rin, Rikimaru...) They are more stealthy, and I think that is better of abilities than all out sword-power.

While I love to see an Assassin deal a death blow, I have to say that Swordmasters are an overall better unit. They just pwn. Period.

Swordmasters. The list of reasons why is enormous, but here are a few off the top of my head:-Attack animations are more fun to watch (Yay after-images!)-Do not sacrifice any abilities when promoted (Thieves lose ability to steal when promoted to Assassins)-Better for fighting bosses (One Hit Crit only works on weak enemies)-You get your first Swordmaster WAY before your first Assasin (in Fire Emblem for GBA at least. For me, Guy was level 20 when Jaffar finally showed up. Of course I could have used my Earth Seal on Legault, but then I would've had to protect matthew's weak self to steal stuff.)Something else to think about, since you have the possibility of having up to three assassins, but only two swordmasters, the game developers may have thought three swordmasters to be too much power on one team and as such, made them a rarer breed. Or not. Either way it's a fun arguement to make.

I choose assassins because they are more better in their killing than a swordmaster.

i always loved the idea of hiding in the shadows observing everyone and waiting for the perfect moment, taking it and then just slipping back into the shadows

Assassins. My Colm usually swiped the field clear. Though granted, I prefer assassins mostly because their attack animation is awesome.

assasin is better, in FE7 jaffar owned the game with a silver blade, making critical hits whole time.

Yeah, that's where you're wrong. See, critical hit percentage for assassins is based solely on skill and weapon. Since the Silver Blade has 0% crit, his maximum critical hit rate would be 15%. Now, you still have to factor in the luck from your opponents, so on average, you'll end up with 10% crit. That is definitely not the "whole time".Also, the Silver Blade is a ridiculously heavy weapon with terrible accuracy, which makes striking twice (and actually striking your opponent) very difficult.I'm sorry, but your post has failed miserably.

I like using assasins because their normal attack does more damage than swordmasters and are more usefull and skilled at dodging

Swordmasters. Better in combat and much more efficient. OHKO's are nice but, meh. Thieves are also expensive to promote (except for in FE6 where you can't promote them at all) and they lose their ability to steal. It's probably better to keep them unpromoted.

i would say swordmaster... its hard to decide between those to classes since they both have their good points but swordmasters have more swords they can use and crit is sometimes good when you face someone hard with a high crit and gets anoying when you lose someone

I got to say...Assassin only because my favorite character could only become one, and that's Matthew. Swordmasters generally have a higher critical BECAUSE they specialize in skill; skill/2 = critical rate.

I always check the stats before promotion. Namely, Strength and Luck. If the character has a decent enough Strength, its going into the Swordmaster path no matter what. If it has low Luck it'll be swordmaster as well, simply because its Strength could improve more then its Luck could. But if its Strength is low, but it does have a decent Luck, I'll go Assassin because at that point I feel it could get the most from silencer. Though doing this I've only ever had one good assassin, which was Joshua on a Hard-Mode playthrough of Sacred Stones.

Asside from Rutger, and Karel I never use swordmaster's, Assassin's lack diversity. In all three GBA Fire emblems only three people can become or are Assassins. Falco Knight's and Sages are the way to go.

I'd rather have swordmasters than assassins, simply because not only they have critical boost, but it's enough to kill an enemy rather than having something like OHKO which is only half the critical rate, and assassins don't get any crit boost. So their OHKO rate will almost always be in the single digits while swordmaster's critical rate will be at least in the 30s.And to Filterfan1:Not counting any myrmidons, there's four that can become or are already assassins: Matthew, Legault, Jaffar, and Colm.

I'd choose other class like mage although it might weak at the start and at the end most of the time. And the attack animation are awesome more of the time.
