Full movies may be a problem for the DS since I'm thinking the size of the movie. Normal DVDs are on a 4.7 GB disk or a doubled 8 GB disk which I don't believe a DS card could hold. I guess they could make a movie that thing that looks like the Action Replay that would be able to hold more but I'm pretty sure the video and audio quality would be compromised to make it fit. People with a Blu-ray player watching this will start yelling at the low quality and people like me with a DVD/VCR player may not notice. It may also just come down to personal preference. I'll still keep watching my movies on my TV in my basement than on my DS.

I am running Moonshell on an R4 with a $15 8 gig microsd card from buy.com. Moonshell comes with an converter to convert avi files to the format that moonshell likes. I converted a lot of film projects that i had made, full anime episodes, a full length movie, and some converted youtube videos, and it was all only about 1.2 gig. The videos are about youtube quality in size and bitrate, but still very watchable, and with plenty of room on the card for a ton of games, mp3s, and homebrew apps. My only complaint is that sometimes if you skip around in the video, the player freaks out and you have to re-open the file.

Yes, there are a bunch of programs available that can create .DPG files. Some of the comercial software packages will also convert movies to this format. Each movie uses about 300-600meg so you can fit quite a few on an 8gig Micro SD. I have done a few DVD movie to .DPG using BatchDPG_v1.3_beta_4. I use Moonshell to play them through the Cyclo Eveolution/8Gig Micro SD and they played fine. Do a Google search for .DPG and you will see a wealth of information about the subject. You might notice that you can also convert You-Tube video to the DS format.Jimbo

Yes you can play the movie on DS, I did it with the programs mentions here from others. However, the movie clip quality was not so good, compare to the time I spent to make it work; all the programs I had to download and install, it's not really worth the time & effort at all. It's easier to encode a movie to play on iPod or other mp4 players... faster, high quality.... just stick with playing Pokemon on DS will be better...

yes this is possible, but is it really worth your while? movies take up a huge amount of space for your sd card to handle so even though it is possible, i advise against it.

I believe that nintendo DID make some form of movie player hardware for the DS in Japan, but it was basically the same principle as a flashcart- you bought micro SD cards with the movies on them. I think the only titles officially released were a couple of Pokemon movies. Obviously, it wasn't very well supported, and they're pretty hard to find now.

I'm not quite sure why you'd want to, given how small the screen to view it on is and the sound quality wouldn't be that great, but yes, feasibly, you could. However... To do this, you would have to lower the quality SO drastically just for the file size to be small enough to fit on an SD card compatible with the R4 that I don't think you'd be able to make out much of anything at all, thus defeating the purpose. So really, it's a yes and no answer.

Yeah, you need this thing called Moonshell to play dpg files. Then convert whatever video you want to dpg format, and then put it on your flash cart.
