Many tracks for games are really nicely composed. The music from Metal Gear Solid, for example, fit very well with the scenes and such presented.Speaking of which, if people have not noticed the Download Center, go pay a visit. There is actually a Game Soundtrack section where you can upload the albums there to share with other people of DGemu!

I can't say I'm a fan of the genre, but I do enjoy good gaming soundtracks. Chrono Trigger and FF series are examples of games that have amazing music scores.

I also love game music. X3 I'm a big fan of the music from the Fatal Frame games. Final Fantasy music and music from NiGHTS are also quite nice. I mostly dig the vocals but some instrumental can be nice; especially if it is well composed. >.<

For the best game music ever, look for the MIDIs from Loom. You can even still play it through scummVM! It was probably the best game I have EVER played....

Absolutely! My first collected songs were the character themes from FFVII, and now I have a bunch of random tracks on a CD.

Gaming music has to be the most underrated type of music out there. Granted there are many examples (especially in the early days) where the music was little more than beeps and boops, but they've since evolved into full orchestral pieces in some cases. Even in the early days there were musical geniuses like Koji Kondo and Nobuo Uematsu who turned the beeps and boops into true masterpieces. It seems a little unfair to call it its own genre, because almost all genres are represented within one video game or another (not including Guitar Hero and its like)

For the best game music ever, look for the MIDIs from Loom. You can even still play it through scummVM! It was probably the best game I have EVER played....

As I understand it, most of the music from Loom is simply MIDIs of Swan Lake.

The soundtracks that accompany most games are utter tripe, but once in a while you find a gem. Jet Set Radio, for instance, has a great soundtrack.Music made especially for games can sometimes be surprisingly good, like the Bionic Commando: Rearmed soundtrack. Popular music, if mixtaped properly, can also be a shocker.

I agree music made for games can sometimes suprise your butt, and make a solid impression upon you. Gaming music has come a very long way and it can be a positive factor to store all the good gaming songs in one place and share with others. This could be a positive thing to share all the hot gaming songs that make you want to rock along with them and dance your body to them. Gaming music is a good thing you just need to pick and choose your top choices and share with others.Keep on gaming with good tunes.

1 series has some of the best music I have heard. Castlevania. Seriously, with awesome songs like Beginning, Dracula's Castle(from Symphony of the Night), and Vampire Killer, it is just awesome.

FF series usually have great scores (Nobuo Uematsu is a genius). Now, one that really surprised me recently was Persona 3 & 4 for PS2. Really modern & cool soundtrack (a mix of many genres like J-Pop, Hip Hop and Jazz) that fits perfectly with the mood of the game. Mirror's Edge has a nice theme song too and nice electronic BGM's.EDIT: I've just remembered one fantastic soundtrack: Soukaigi. It's an action/RPG game from Square for PSOne that was released only in Japan. This soundtrack has amazing arrangements and was recorded with real instruments instead of synths. It's really worth checking even if you're not interested in the game.

Me too! On my YouTube account, I've uploaded soundtracks for Mario Parties 1-8 and DS, Donkey Kong: Barrel Blast, Wario: Master of Dusguise, Wave Race 64, Wave Race: Blue Storm, Yoshi's Story, and Yoshi's Topsy-Turvy! Of course, I listen to others on the website like most of you would anyway. I'm polite like that.

I don't care about the music... it is the game play of the game that makes it enjoyable.
