Microsoft has officially/unofficially announced that Gearbox (Brothers in Arms) will be developing Halo 4 for the 3rd gen Xbox. So, don't hope to see/hear anything about it for at least 3 years or so.

And once again MS screws a company it had a deal with. Bungie began developing the first Halo long before they were purchased by MS and now they have split from MS and yet somehow MS is the ones keeping the rights to Halo.

It kind of sucks that Bungie won't be making it, but I mean, you can't really screw Halo up. It will pretty much be good no matter what - it just might not be as innovative as the other games.A lot of people give Halo flak for being like every other 1st person shooter and being nothing special, but.. it's influenced a LOT of games. Halo 3 didn't really improve over Halo 2 a whole lot as a game itself, but the online community got much, MUCH stronger with the massive improvements Bungie made to the system. But anyway, it's nice to know that Halo Wars won't be the last thing we see from the series.. I like Halo, but I'm not a big fan of RTS games (and it probably won't be that superb considering RTSes just don't work as well on consoles.)

Actually, the online community has shrunk substantially. Halo 2 was much more popular. Halo 3's reliance on heavy weapons, boring, uninventive maps, and obvious reliance on Halo 2's fame, make it a much less satisfying play. Not to mention the utter lack of sportsmanship in the game.Back to the topic of conversation though, although Bungie isn't making this one, I am more excited for this than I was for Halo 3. Gearbox is a great developer (Brothers in Arms is a brilliantly made game), and they know what they are doing when it comes to FPS's. I am interested to see how they integrate their experience with squad-based combat into Halo 4.

well you could say that having halo 4 be made by another game developer might make things more interesting but from what you just said im kinda scare now that the halo experience will change overall.bungie has made the halo series unique in some sense.iv always known what to expect of them after each part from halo to halo 3 yet they still manage to make it sort of refreshing to me in each part of the series.i guess im sort of a halo fanboy but anyone can see that if there were to be such a change then halo 4s probly gonna feel different...not sure if ill get used to the change..

Wow, I can't believe microsoft just left Bungie, its probably going to be worse, I think that one and two were the best ones and three just ruined, now imagine the fourth one...

i think this is a stupid move. i actually get discouraged knowing that my xbox will be void int he next three years or so.doesn't that irk others. i'm not made of money damn.it also won't be the same if bungie doesn't do it. that's just common sense. what's happened to the world

If it ain't broke, don't fix it.I doubt that Gearbox would change an already winning formula.Granted, Halo was revolutionary when it was first released, because most of you newcomers to gaming don't realize that Halo was the first time an FPS had been successfully brought to a console without sacrificing anything.Oh, and if the fact that Halo 4 won't be around is the only reason your Xbox 360 will be empty, then you shouldn't even play games. Halo is good, but there are better games.

When they announced Bungie had no plans on making another halo game i was pretty dissapointed, but hearing this just gets me so pumped :DI'm not so sure about a different game developer developing the game though, but if they follow the same formula of the previous titles they should be able to make another brilliant game.

i dont know hows that goign to work out, brothers and arms dont have much flare to it , I think bungie should stick to its original developers since part 3 getting something new Is really risky since theres alot of halo addicts out there.

They don't just "say" it, they have confirmed that the next Halo game is not for the current generation of consoles. There will be no announcement about it for quite some time.

You, my good sir, are a moron.Bungie does not own Halo; therefore, they do not make the decisions about who develops it. Also, Bungie is a developer, so I fail to see how they could stick with their original developer when it was themselves.

Bungie has announced that they have 4 Halo related projects in the works, but Halo 4 is not one of them. Halo 4 is a completely Microsoft's business.

I think the next Halo games are going to rubbish. I don't think that anybody but Bunge could make a Halo game as good as Halo 2 or Halo 3.
