honourable mentions go to revenge of shinobi, mortal kombat series, and spiderman vs. kingpin. shinobi and spiderman provide similar, yet great gameplay, and although the graphics are simplistic, both can be refreshingly frustrating and challenging. the MK series is just a fantastic fighting series.

I recently got to play Panzer Dragoon Saga for Sega Saturn, and... holy crap.Speaking of, I nearly crapped myself at the end of Disk 1 (when it turns out you have to fight [IMNOTTELLINGYOU])

Sonic the Hedgehog 3 and Knuckles by far. The incredibly large amount of levels and emeralds made for a great game that lasts for a very long time (If you are not very good at it).

I'd usually go against the grain but i'm going to have to say the Sonic series.Close second would have Bubsy in: Claws Encounters of the Furred Kind.

The Snail Maze game on the original Sega Master System! (without Hang On / Safari Hunt built in)You hold the D-pad up on both controllers (if I remember correctly) when the Sega logo appears and in a few seconds the maze game would load up. As basic as the game was, I enjoyed it.

I have never really played any Sega games except for Sonic. So, I will say Sonic is my favorite from Sega but not the best.
