Don't worry about the specifics. Basically, you just need to know that you need a Pandora Battery or a Datel TOOL Battery to install Custom Firmware.

Service mode is like recovery mode.I don't know the specifics, but it was found out about when a battery and a memory card was still in a PSP when it was sent back from being fixed. From what I know, the battery bypasses some stuff and basically allows the memory card to write directly to the flash.

You have to convert no matter what you do. You can play .flv files without converting them using PSPtube....I heard that PSPtube can play some divx files as well...but I haven't actually tried this. The plus side of converting is that it makes the file smaller and adjusts to the PSPs resolution.

No. They officially stopped making the PSP-2000 in September and are only making PSP-3000s. There's still quite a few in stores, but they're not making new ones.

sorry im asking so many questions and stressing so much its just that i wanna make sure i dont buy an unhackable one to waste like $200 of my money.1) http://www.ebgames.c...roduct_id=72881and are you guys sure all units of this bundle are hackable? should i check for the barcode anyways? because im gonna buy it really soon (like tomorrow or 2 days).2) do i need to check for these codes when i purchase a psp for hackability??

PSP-2000 Motherboard Information:TA-85 (Can use and make Pandora Battery)TA-85v2 (Can use, but cannot make Pandora Battery)TA-88v2 (Can use, but cannot make Pandora Battery)TA-88v3 (Cannot use or make Pandora Battery)

3) so as long as i buy an psp with A-F barcode thing i will be fine right? are there any other vital steps that i have missed?

Your link is bad.And you can't really check the motherboard without taking the PSP apart...you'll just have to check the barcode.Make sure you know the return or exchange policy when buying a PSP just to be safe. Best Buy has a reaaaaally great return policy. I've actually swapped bricked PSPs with them for new ones.

No, that PSP is not hackable...since it says it is the PSP 3000 series. The 3k series hasn't been hacked yet.

i phoned in to the store in my location and they said that they only have 2000s with this bundle for my location currently, and the 3000 will be in about a few months, i think they post new releases before they are released since they already have final fantasy xiii listed as an item even though the release date as not been announced.so in this case, how does the barcode work? is it the same for all units under this bundle or should i check for A-Fagain, this is the Ratchet and Clank Bundlehttp://www.ebgames.c...roduct_id=72881do you think the salesman would help me if i asked him to help me buy a hackable psp lol??....

You could ask the salesperson? I wouldn't though. Just ask to see the box, and check the barcode. If it is the PSP 2000 model, it should work...unless it has the TA-088v3 mobo. Your best bet would be the barcode, and if all else fails bring it home and if it isn't hackable try returning it.....but the barcode method seems to work the best.

Just ask if you can look at the product first. You don't have to give any reasoning.

haha as VG said, just ask to see it. It's not a matter of national security or anything...I'm sure they'll be obliged to let you inspect your hardware before dishing out $200.

Canada PSPs and US PSPs are the same thing. They're classified as NTSC-U/C, with the U/C standing for US/Canada.

As VG said, it's the same region as the US.Now to know if your PSP is hackable you'll need to know what kind of motherboard you have. What PSP do you have? The PHAT or the Slim/Lite? If you know the exact model, that'd be good. ex. Piano BlackFor information of pandora's battery, check here:http://www.dgemu.com...howtopic=369965

SOMEONE RESPOND TO THIS QUICKLY. My used PSP is in horrible condition as I mentioned in another thread, so I'm about to swap it for the other used ice blue PSP they have at my local gamestop. But the reason why I didn't take that one in the first place was because it was on 5.01 ofw. The ice blue's limited edition with that draxter game were released in 2006, the first slims, so I think they have a hackable motherboard since currently I have the darth vader PSP which was released after. I need to make sure though. I can't ask for the white one back if I decide to give it to them for the ice blue one

It doesn't show up on this list:http://www.dgemu.com...howtopic=426805So I can't be sure. When was the PSP released? If it is an earlier model, then it shouldn't be a TA088v3. But again, either check the box (if there is one) or run the mobo test.
