I love roms, but I'd have to go with the real thing. When I'm playing roms I save my state way to much so I basically cheat through the whole game, making it not as fun.

Real games:+: they look nice, it's fun having that original box, instruction manual, cartridge/disc, it looks cool on a shelf, plus it's a must for collectors.-: it costs a fortune. Well, here, in Russia, a good game for PS2 costs around $60-80 and a good game for Wii (like Zelda or Mario) costs around $100, no less (around $30-50 if it's platinum). If you are collecting only FF series games or such, it's ok, but if you like playing random games - it's a killer.ROMs:+: free, you can play oldies that you missed, you can play japanese games that were never released outside Japan and such; also there's that easy-to-use cheating system in emulators and save-states.-: see "+" of real games, plus some ROM dumps are glitchy, some emulators are incomplete, the sound or colors in game may differ from the original, glitches occur from time to time.

i feel i have to complete a game if i buy it, plus you get online features, roms are good for games not worth your cash, or imports

The real deal. In my opinion, nothing beats picking up the controller and playing some of your favorite games. Playing them on the keyboard, while I'll say I don't mind, just doesn't feel the same.

It hurts me to say this but I have to go with ROMS purely based on save states.

I prefer the real thing. I use rom for game I want to test before buying it or for game I think doesn't deserve to be bought.

I don't mind paying for video games, but the availability of ROMS has it's virtues. After 7 years since it's release in Japan, I can finally play a sequel to the Uncharted Waters Series that never made it stateside. For some reason, KOEI feels that this game would not sell very well in the US, so they gave us the next 16 sequels to Romance of the Three Kingdoms series instead...

There's something nice about having a nice tangible object in front of you, so I'll have to say the real thing... if you can afford it.

Real games. Because you have also the real system they were though of.It's not the same thing to play, for example, with a game for N64 using emulator or using the real nintendo pad...

The real ones, it is just a different feeling altogether playing a newly bought game you anticipated or just download it.
