I've always liked playing the games on the actually system better. One exception is when I play the N64 games in HD on my computer. I even donated the $20 for access to the Project 64 1.7 beta.

ROMs once the technology has caught up to make them reliable for that system. I own lots of games that I have played the ROM of way more than the original. There is something to be said for being able to save a game that never had that function or it was extremely limited. Plus if someone had told me when I first got into Final Fantasy I (the game that solidified my love of RPGs) at 8 years old that in less than 15 years I would be playing it on a wireless telephone smaller than a regular telephone, more powerful and functional than that 386 computer that I had just saved up my money for, and that could carry more on it than I had ever seen without ever having to change a cartridge, than I would have said, "Ya right, will there be hotels to the moon, jetpacks, and flying cars in every garage in ten years as well then?"

In the future I'm sure ROMS will be improved drastically. In fact In the future I think gaming companies will merge to make more diverse playing. And universal games which can be played in any format!!!!!!*cough*To answer your question, I prefer playing the real thing, but sometimes ROMS is all you can get.

I prefer ROMS, mainly because I have zero income and I can't afford all the games I want. But there are other nice features that emulators have that appeal to me, such as the convenience of not having to carry tonnes of cartridges and UMDs around. However, when I actually start making money, I will buy the original games to support developers. This doesn't mean I'll stop downloading ROMS and ISOs, haha. I'll do both to get the best of both worlds.

ROMs of course since they are free. ;]Also they are much easier to find and you can modify them yourself if you are technically inclined or just download a hack patch or two...or dozens as in my case. They take up no space as well and you can save anywhere, though I try to only use savestates as a backup save, I don't cheat with them. Sometimes however it is nice to own a physically copy of a game that you love just like owning a music CD of a band you love, for the manual or box, or just to show it off. ;]

I personally don't think you can beat the real thing. Sure emulators allow you to save whenever you want and its free, but I just love the feeling of a controller and a tv.

I use both. Real Games are awesome for things I don't have emulators for and for on the go (handheld games), but ROMs have savestates which are INCREDIBLY useful, and for if I've lost or don't own the game. So, it's tough to choose.

I prefer real. I think to myself. "I was rich enough to buy a legit copy." It's the fact that you lost your money on it that makes you want to finish it.

I'd have to say roms, because i dont have to blow 20-40 dollars on a rom and that's pretty awsome.

Roms are way better because they can be made into brand new unplayed games by way of hacking. Not to mention that by hacking you can fix gliches in roms that weren't fixed in the original games.

Real thing, ftw. I love collecting old NES and SNES cartridges, however, ROMS have the advantage that you don't have to blow in the game a hundred times to finally get it to work. Also ROMS have cool hacks sometimes. But the real thing is still the real deal for me. I guess I just prefer the authenticity of using all of my old gaming stuff.

ROMS beat real games. Its no competition. With ROMS you can speed up the frame rate, save wherever you want and customize your controls. I wouldn't have finished half of the RPGs I played if i couldn't of sped up the frame rate during those ridiculously long dialogue sequences. Saved my life man.

Real games usually work better and are just a lot cooler to have, but ROMs are good for modding and getting games you don't have the physical copy of yet. I prefer real games, but I don't have a real problem doing ROMs.

ROMs! but only with a gamepad, otherwise the console is much better. I find myself lost without savestates and such

I've been using ROMS for the bast three months and...the real game is better. It may just be my computer, but I hate the lag, and how sometimes the sound is a little warped on nocash. It would be nice to have the real game again, but I'm used to the no$gba contorls.
