Real games, by far! ROMs are okay, but actual games own!

I've always preferred owning an actual hard copy of a game to downloading of any kind.

Well I think I'd prefer ROMs on a flash card so that I can actually play them for real, but unfortunately I don't have one and I don't know where to get one...I reckon ROMs are better because you can access all sorts of things like cheats, which allow you to unlock things that make the game more enjoyable and playable. I remember playing Pokemon and being so frustrated because I couldn't get all the Pokemon, even when I traded, but with ROMs you can.

Wouldn't that ruin the point of games if you just use a cheat engine?I'd use ROMS because it saves money and you can also test the game you're interested in before your purchase of it.

Real Games because they are either console games and can be played on a television, or they are portable games which can be played portably. Plus, I don't have to worry about real games. And the main reason is there is a different mentality playing real games on a video game system (i.e. not a computer) than playing roms on a computer.

ROMs are free. 'Real' games aren't.In the end, you're playing Pokemon, whether it's by computer or handheld.

ROMS are fun because the emulator allows you to manipulate them in really fun ways, but i almost always only use ROMS of games I've already actually owned and beaten. So for me, ROMS are and will always be mainly a nostalgia trip with some fun glitches and recoloring options. lol. That being said, I never would have been able to experience the earthbound/mother series without ROMS, and I love being able to play all the R-types while on a flight or something from my laptop. =) If I could get my 64, snes, Gba, Psx, and AppleII all condensed into one system with insane portability like my netbook, the real thing would win. But ROMs win out of sheer convenience.

I prefer using roms, but having the actual game makes you play it more because you know that you had to pay for it, therefore you value it more.

I'm on the side of ROMs, because ROMs and Emulators make it easier to play the games. The two main ways emulation does this is:1: Save states2: Built-in cheat devicesI'm sure there are more features, but those are the two most important in my opinion.

Both. I buy real games because I enjoy owning good games, especially sleeper-hits. I play ROMs mainly as a substitute to renting a game.

I really love being able to use ROMs because they've opened up a lot of games for me I've never been able to play before. Whether its because they've never been in my country, or I simply couldn't afford to buy like, 6 games in a month, ROMs have given me a chance to not only experience games I've always wished I could play, but also given me a chance to test games I was on the fence about and find out if they're worth getting or if i'm better off just ignoring them entirely. I also enjoy how some emulators allow you to increase the speed of the game with the push of a button. Its nice in my opinion to be able to speed up a slow cinematic, walking speeds, battle animations, long winded text, etc etc. The only downsides in my opinion are sheer lack of portability, and the fact that I can't play a ROM with other people. |Sucks that's the case but frankly, there's almost no games that really hinge on their multiplayer anyways that you'd want to get as a ROM. If you want to play online / with other people you're ofcourse going to get the real deal. :) If you don't then well, sucks to be you.

Either the real thing - legal, they play better, real controls etc or ROMs on flash carts - free, play perfectly fine, real controls etc.

Depending on the game, it determines if a Rom is warranted or not. For instance, I'd rather have a hardcopy of the original Chrono Trigger, since it is such an epic game. Or, as many have stated, there are some games that I am unsure of, so I don't wish to purchase the game for full price, so I download a Rom, and try it out. if I enjoyed it enough, I may buy the real copy, or perhaps te sequel/prequel if one exists.

I have prefered the ROMs over the real games because they're free! And they don't lie around the house when your done with them; you can just put them them in the Recycling Bin when you are, and they're easy to get back too, because they're FREE! Who wouldn't like that? Of coure, by "free", I mean you don't spend any real-life money on them.

I like roms just for testing out a game before i go out and buy it, that way only get good games, and the good games get more financial support while the bad games falter, as they should

I will have to say real games are better, not because its legal, I dont realy care about that, getting free games its awsome but having the real game brings some kind of satisfaction just by having it, saying its your game. thats my opinion.

You can guaranteed that the game would definitely work (provided the region is correct) and no worries about console getting banned (for xbox 360).

It depends on the greatness of the game; if its free and has an average rate or more definitely yes. But if you need cashout from your pocket why not you won't regret it...your experience with a great game is priceless!!!
