I rmember the first time I played Doom on the PC way, way, back in th day. Do you remember the pink monsters that ran at you and tried to eat you? Well, there was an invisible verison (or almost invisible). When that ran at me for the first time I turned my player around and legged it. I really felt like runnig away and the hairs on my neck stood up. Man that was a crazy experience!

There were definitely a couple creepy bits in Vampire the Masquerade: Bloodlines, most notably the laundry room in the haunted hotel, where, after reading a gruesome newspaper article or two about decapitations, I fully expected to find a severed head in the one functioning clothes dryer when I opened it up. After a while it got to where I didn't play at night if I could possibly help it. :P

The only real time I remember being frightened was from the NES days.Playing in the dark, toploader NES. Really getting in to some jumpy-shooty game, don't remember which. My cat jumps on the NES and dislodges the cartridge somehow, causing a VERY loud glitchy sound while the screen blinked rapidly from a color to another while finally resting at black. As for PC games... No. :/

I remember when I was 12 years old playing Star Wars: X-Wing on my Dad's old computer. I was flying this particularly difficult A-wing mission which pitted me against waves and wave of Tie Bombers and TIE Fighters. I remember playing that game for hours on end trying to defeat the third wave of fighters. I killed a least 6 TIE fighters and 6 TIE bombers and then I was under attack from a TIE Devastator. When he jumped me from behind I tried to bank left and right to evade him but nothing worked. I was scared out of my mind because every move I made would be mirrored by the Devastator. Then I reduced power to the engines, rolled the track ball down (fast), and then I was behind him. I got that ship in my cross hairs and established missile lock. I fired 3 missiles and the ship exploded in a ball of fiery debris. I passed the mission with a perfect score and was awarded with a Rebel medal.

The first time I played Fear I was pretty scared to play in fear of random things happening, however after going through the game once it's not scary anymore. If only because now you know everything it can throw at you and you don't have to be scared of possibilities.

FEAR has a special kind of atmosphere. It's the only game I've ever gotten scared of while playing online!

System Shock 2 was pretty much the only game that put me on edge for a good half hour after I stopped playing. Other games may have psyched me up, but never as well, as much, as System Shock 2 did.

when i played Far Cry the first time i thougt it was a good shooter, but after the first lvl's you needed to go in a dark cave, and there was a kind of monter that killed 1 of the guards (my enemy). I thought at each corner, there is a monster behind it! (when the lvl was finished there wasnt 1 single monster! (a few lvl's after that i was scared again, and there where a lot of fast monsters that jump out of corners etc) and i was afraid!

I have to say halo 1 actually scared me a little during the flood. Only cus I was a lot younger and it was at night and everyone was asleep. Also Decent 3 is pretty scary, especially if you see the intro where the guys head gets cut off by a machine, the robots always jump out on you and make these freaky noises.

System Shock 2. Full stop.I nearly jumped out of my seat when the ghost near the replicator appeared suddenly, and hearing the Hybrids say something STILL makes me twitch and prime my wrench (and I'm up to Cargo Bay 2)! Doesn't help that you're severely limited in bullets and medicine...

I saw Myst when I was 4... I was scared of pretty much anything 3D after that up until Mario 64 came out. And I'll admit... I still have to stay away from Silent Hill and the like.

I don't remember anything in particular actually, but I remember how I was scared of seeing something in a game. That seemed to happen a lot...I used to play Doom and Doom2 a lot as a kid, and I remembered I always avoided playing the last level (30) with the big goat head thing, It's pretty creepy. The Archvile monster was scary too...When I was even younger I saw my dad play the original Doom from time to time, and until the age of maybe 12, I never had the guts to play without cheats. Now I kick ass in Nightmare difficulty, It's actually a very easy game once you master circle strafing. :P

I played F.E.A.R. from beginning to end One time and one time only! I tried playing it again for the xbox 360 at a friends house, but I stopped because I found myself shaking and sweating! I even knew where all the scary spots were and it was still too much for me to take again. I couldn't believe I was reduced to that.Doom 3 was like disney land compared to F.E.A.R. But that was the first time I found myself doing real world movement in a video game. I remember a dark hall I was about to run down but then I heard something clang around.Like my real life counter part, If i were to begin walking down a dark hall and hear something shuffling around, I would back step and bolt back to the lighted area. That is exactly what I did in the game, I started walking then started to back step in short to a quick turn and ran back to the Light.I then stopped and laughed at my fright.

Same as the above poster - F.E.A.R scared the crap out of me, which is ironic because A: You are a pretty much a bullet-dodging superman, and B: Dead Space, which has much less friendly controls and such, and much more hideous monsters, and just more reasons to be scared? Scared me a lot less.F.E.A.R is just remarkably good at the whole 'creepy' atmosphere.Other than that... a few games, but nothing memorable.
