Humans are both, we all have good and evil in us, it's a matter of keeping the balance between the two, so few do that though.

After reading Lord of the Flies my opinion has changed drastically. I used to believe that humans were basically good, and that society, being so anti-work and leisurely and what-not, brought out the evils within. However, because of William Golding, I now believe the opposite. I believe that humans are essentially ill, evil, and that society helps keep the balance between the good in us and the evil.If you're looking for a good read, Lord of the Flies is amazing.
Loved that book, but I derrived a diffrent idea from it. At the begining when the kids tried to fourm a soceity, they themselves defined what was good and what was evil. Then near the end wehn the kids spit into their diffrent groups, they re-defined good and evil. The message I got from that book was that the idea of good and evil is somthing humans invented, it's tottaly irreleveant to the world around us. Good and evil are very personal the the individual, so reall what's good for you might be evil for me and vice versa. There is no such thing as good and evil, they are just tags we place on things personally.
