instinct makes humans bad, but conscience makes them good, so humans are both good and evil

I believe humans are inherently good. Tell me, even if you believe in Original Sin, have you ever looked into a baby's eyes and seen pure evil emanate from them? No, unless your younger brother truly is the devil. My point is that we all start at good, but as we grow older we coat that core of goodness with layers of learned behavior (usually bad behavior), like a white snowball rolling down a dirty hill.

It really would depend on the person. But in my opinion, most people are neutral.

There is no such thing as true good or true evil. For example if you steal to feed your starving children, or rob a bank to pay for a life saving surgury, or killing an attacker to save a loved one, is that evil? somethings in this world can be called one but truely be the other like self proclaimed holy wars like the crusades. I believe you choose whether you do something for good or evil. It is the intent of the action not the action itself that is good or evil. We all decide when we do something why we are doing it and the reasons we do what we do are what determines whether we are good or evil. So I think a person is neither truely good or truely evil but a little in the center and there overall choices in life just tend to focus on one over the other. Basically we are what we choose to be. (I know I was rambling.....) :D

I think human are evil.. i mean myself too. We are selfish and get jealous easily, right? be honest with yourself. Lol. And due to jealous and desires, we get into fights and the worst, war.

I belive that humans are evil only because evil is not definable. You can go murder is evil. Well what about self defense? Human nature is to complex to be discussed on forums. You would have better luck figuring out the meaning of life.(which i happen to know XP)

Humans at our most basic are frankly, evil. We're parasites living off of this planet, sucking it dry of all it's resources. Killing eachother as we kill our home, each desperately thinking of our only survival, and pleasure. And once the planet is used up and done, we'll all just try our bet to shove as many of us onto as many ships as possible, and repeat the whole process on another planet. We're a species that creates rules, laws, and taboos specifically to break them, and defy them. A species that if told "doing that is wrong" responds not with "Then I won't do it" but with "Why shouldn't I?" We take what we want, and have an attitude of "If it doesn't effect me, why should I care?" We're all rampant hypocrites at some level or another, each morally only finding something wrong if it personally effects us. Others denying the entire concept of right or wrong, trying to boil everything down ignorantly to opinions, and rejecting any notion that anything they might want to do could be wrong. We defy nature. Does any other species go out of it's way to protect people, and species that naturally would die? Humans have our own system of selection, based on what most serves us, or we believe would make our lives better. We're very "me me me me" trying our best to keep alive friends and relatives with genetic abnormalities, and diseases that in the end only detrimant our species. But, it's okay if in the future our grand children have to suffer from diabetes, or cancer, or any other number of diseases so long as we can keep the person carrying it alive for us to enjoy, right? We're moral, and immoral only when it serves us, and "gets us off". And every human being on Earth is exactly the same in if nothing else the fact that we all believe we're somehow different.

Look, humans are neither evil or good. We do things that we have to do to ensure our survival. Evil and good are such "strong" words to use. They way we do things, does anyone see our survival as a bad thing. Some say yes, some say no. However, no one deos anything about it. Thiers groups and organisation that try to help the environment and lessent the damage that we have done to this planet over decades of abuse. This does not mean "humans" as a whole are evil or good. Like I have said before, life isn't black and white. We may start out innocent not knowing what we do is harmful to the world but we do know that we do it because we HAVE to do it to ensure our own survival. Humans are just like any other form of species.

And putting our survival over others in the name of comfort and progress, is evil.Incedently, the Endangered Species Act turned out to be nothing more than a government ploy to control where people could and couldn't build. http://video.google....p;q=penn teller I'd say that's pretty damned evil. And no, you can't defy thousands of years of techings and logic and just say "THERE'S NO GOOD OR BAD CUZ I SAY SO!" and expect to be taken credibly.

Lets get back to reality here. The evil that people are describing are the kind of evil in books and games. I do agree that some things that we have done are bad, but that doesnt make it evil. If we are evil, then whats good?Honestly, stop thinking about the good and evil in movies and book and games and just get back to REALITY.

I don't recall anyone mentioning books or movies here. That argument is a fallacy. A straw-man argument. As to "If we are evil, than what's good?" ever heard the phrase "lesser of two evils" or "honor among thieves"? Just because you're less evil than someone, or something else doesn't mean you aren't also bad. And I would say most animals are not evil, because they don't do things just for pleasure, or make rules and then break them, or lie.I'm saying, someone specifically saying "Using drugs is evil!" and then themselves using drugs, is evil. Why? Because they've specifically stated they believe it to be wrong, and then taken part in it themselves. This hypocrisy is part of where evil is formed. An inability to "practice what you preaach".

Classifying things as if they were black and white, isn't a good speculation of that thing. Human's are good, nor are they evil, they're just normal. People are judged upon by what action they took and how the person sees the action as. Everybody has a reason, no matter how ridiculous, for what they did.

both and nither at the same time. there would be no good if there was no evil and no evil if there was no good, so it is good to be evil and evil to be good.

I'd say humans start off as empty slates or neutral which is why we needed parents in the first place. X3 To praise when we do something good (to one's opinion) and stuff our mouths with a bar of soap when we say or do something bad. Although, humans as paper and evil as ink is a good way to put it. My traditional conservative grandmother once told me, 'You have a dot on your piece of paper!' in Bisaya (One of the native languages in the Philippines) and in a metaphorical sense. What matters most is a person's decision. There are shades of gray. If everything was black and white, according to my grandmother, I'd be labelled bad immediately.

I think humans are both evil and good, it depends on how the person feel from day to day.I can be both evil and good, but as I said earlier it depends on how the person feel from day to day if I feel depressed and all down then I can be very Evil to people that want me to work etc so I think everyone is both Evil and Good! :wtf:

I beleive that evil is in the eye of the beholder. For example-two countries go to war over a moral issue, right? Let'sc all them Country X and Country Y. Both countries think that what they are doing is right, and what they're finting agains tis wrong. They even go to the extreme allegory of "good and evil"--they are good, the enemy is evil. It's human nature to designate your enemies as the ultimate cruelty int he world. So, again, it's all how you interpet someone.
