Yes or No and post why

I like playing RPGs a lot, but unfortunately I've never played a Wii... does anyone think getting a Wii is worth it for the RPGs? Most of my friends say so.

well, i do enjoy a good old RPG, however the dreadful pain I endured controlling a paper mario while he flips dimensions has given me a bad outlook toward RPGs on the Wii. If they had the original from the 64 with the NPC functions I'd be satisfied. I also would expect better from Square (the RPG masters) so far their expeditions with Crystal Chronicles have been so-so.

So far the closest thing I have played to an RPG on the wii is Twilight Princess. I would like to see more out though. I think a crystal chronicles was just released and a final fantasy 4 spinoff on the online store. I have yet to get these though.

I can hardly think of any (except the aforementioned DQ:Swords, and that one sucked, imo), so no, I don't like them. XD

Why is everyone calling The Legend of Zelda: Twilight Princess an RPG?

I'm actually interested in the newest RPGs, like Monado (Xenoblade), Last Story and Earthseeker. It's a pity they're taking SO LONG to localize them (if they are localizing at all, that is).Last Story is particularly interesting.I hope they keep the good RPGs coming. And what may that Pandora's Tower be anyway?

Truthfully I haven't played to many on the Wii, but the few I have played were great.

There are only a couple I've got for the Wii (LoZ Twilight Princess, Dragon Quest Swords) Double that if you count the VC and Gamecube. They're okay, but I prefer not having to swing my arm every time I want to attack

For RPG fans looking for the traditional turn based RPG. Arc Rise Fantasia is still there. There is also an (UNDUBBED) patch lurking around the net that you can find. This game minus the horrendous voice acting is golden.

Not particularly. The only true RPG I was vaguely interested in was Tales of Symphonia 2. That was ok, but not as good as the first from what I've played so far. However, localizing games like Tales of Graces, Xenoblade, and the Last Story could fix that!

Let's go by allgame.com's list to see what RPGs are on the Wii, and what doesn't count. Copy paste brings us these. Cancelled games and Virtual console games were deleted because those are just games for old systems. Stuff that says 2011 as of this post might not be out yet. Only three games on this list ended up being WiiWare (which is a good thing)Third-Person 3D Action RPGs [This is the genre that Adventures with RPG elements usually get mixed into]2006 Avatar: The Last Airbender Role-Playing Third-Person 3D Action RPG 2006 The Legend of Zelda: Twilight Princess Role-Playing Third-Person 3D Action RPG 2006 Marvel: Ultimate Alliance Role-Playing Third-Person 3D Action RPG 2008 Opoona Role-Playing Third-Person 3D Action RPG 2008 Baroque Role-Playing Third-Person 3D Action RPG 2008 Tales of Symphonia: Dawn of the New World Role-Playing Third-Person 3D Action RPG 2009 Final Fantasy: Crystal Chronicles -- Echoes of Time Role-Playing Third-Person 3D Action RPG 2009 Final Fantasy: Crystal Chronicles -- My Life as a Darklord [WiiWare] Role-Playing Third-Person 3D Action RPG 2009 Spectrobes: Origins Role-Playing Third-Person 3D Action RPG 2009 Marvel: Ultimate Alliance 2 Role-Playing Third-Person 3D Action RPG 2009 Valhalla Knights: Eldar Saga Role-Playing Third-Person 3D Action RPG 2009 Final Fantasy: Crystal Chronicles -- The Crystal Bearers Role-Playing Third-Person 3D Action RPG 2010 Monster Hunter Tri Role-Playing Third-Person 3D Action RPG 2011 Monado: Beginning of the World Role-Playing Third-Person 3D Action RPG 2011 The Legend of Zelda: Skyward Sword Role-Playing Third-Person 3D Action RPG Third-Person 3D RPGs2007 Pokémon Battle Revolution Role-Playing Third-Person 3D RPG 2008 Final Fantasy: Crystal Chronicles -- My Life as a King [WiiWare] Role-Playing Third-Person 3D RPG 2008 Final Fantasy Fables: Chocobo's Dungeon Role-Playing Third-Person 3D RPG 2008 Harvest Moon: Tree of Tranquility Role-Playing Third-Person 3D RPG 2008 Monster Lab Role-Playing Third-Person 3D RPG 2009 Rune Factory: Frontier Role-Playing Third-Person 3D RPG 2009 Harvest Moon: Magical Melody [GameStop Exclusive] Role-Playing Third-Person 3D RPG 2009 Chaotic: Shadow Warriors Role-Playing Third-Person 3D RPG 2009 Harvest Moon: Animal Parade Role-Playing Third-Person 3D RPG 2010 Arc Rise Fantasia Role-Playing Third-Person 3D RPG Strategy RPGs2007 Fire Emblem: Radiant Dawn Role-Playing Strategy RPG 2009 Overlord: Dark Legend Role-Playing Strategy RPG 2009 Little King's Story Role-Playing Strategy RPG 2009 Phantom Brave: We Meet Again Role-Playing Strategy RPG 2010 Sakura Wars: So Long, My Love Role-Playing Strategy RPG First Person Action RPGs2008 Dragon Quest Swords: The Masked Queen and the Tower of Mirrors Role-Playing First-Person Action RPG Third Person 2D RPGs [That classic style that is missed]2009 Final Fantasy IV: The After Years [WiiWare] Role-Playing Third-Person 2D RPG 2010 Shiren the Wanderer Role-Playing Third-Person 2D RPG So here we have 31 disc based games and 3 download only games that could possibly be considered RPGs by at least somebody. The majority of them came out in 2008 or later though, making some people's posts about there not being many RPGs for the Wii valid at the time this thread was started. My look how the library has grown. Now that we have all this stuff to pick from, what do you think are the best ones? Has anyone played some of these lesser known games from the list?Based on listed style alone, I am especially curious about Shiren The Wanderer. Finally a third person 2D RPG on a console? That is the same genre as the oldest Dragon Quest and Final Fantasy games, Suikoden I & II and countless others. I am about to look for video footage.EDIT: Oh cool, it plays mostly like Torneko: The Last Hope from Playstation

Unfortunately, I haven't liked any of the RPGs for the Wii. Since I mostly like playing RPGs, the wii really disappointed me.

Xenoblade is fun, I haven't really gotten around to the others but I'm hoping for localization since almost all the wii rpgs aren't localized T-T. second how the hell does twilight princess count as an rpg? I've never seen Link level up, added points to his skills, or rest at an inn and regain hp. It's a flippin action adventure...as far as I'm concerned anyway. Whoever used that smarmy technicality with the word role playing game, wouldn't that make every video game a role playing game then?

Although the Zelda series (Twilight Princess and Skyward Sword in this instance) is considered an action adventure, I believe it does have a couple of light RPG elements to it. For example, Link can increase his health throughout the game just like you can in most other RPG's, only it's just done through the Heart Containers. Me personally, I'll throw these games under that category and I'll play them any day of the week. The other Wii RPG's though?...I actually haven't tried them out yet. That may have something to do with my closed mind on the other console ones though.
